    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for reducing decoding delay of a raptor code are provided to reduce the decoding delay by changing a shape of a matrix for a decoding process previously to perform a necessary operation for an additional symbol. A decoding unit(10) obtains an upper triangular matrix by calculating a pre-coding symbol applying a Gaussian elimination method. A rank calculation unit(20) obtains the rank of the upper triangular matrix in the decoding unit.
