Abstract:
A tilt control mechanism for an office chair includes a spring arrangement which permits forward and rearward tilting of the chair while also urging the chair to a normal upright position. The spring arrangement includes front and rear springs which act in combination such that the upward acting forces acting on the chair can be varied during use. The forces being applied by the front spring are adjusted by a side-actuated tension adjustment mechanism which incorporates a wedge block for adjusting the spring forces. Further, the rear springs provide a variable spring force such that the spring force is maximized when in the normal position but is decreased substantially once the chair is fully reclined. This reduction in spring force allows a user to maintain the chair in the fully reclined position with significantly less force than was required to tilt the chair rearwardly while a sufficient spring force continues to be applied by the front spring to urge the chair to the normal position.
Abstract:
A battery tray assembly that includes a first member having a first interface surface and a first battery retaining surface. The first retaining surface retains a top surface of a first battery. A second member having a second interface surface and a second battery retaining surface retains a bottom surface of the second battery. A means for securing the first interface surface to the second interface surface joins the two batteries in a fixed position. The securing means may include a series of projections on one or both separator members and corresponding slots. A greater number of slots than projections enables a plurality of orientations between the first and second members.
Abstract:
An electrical conduit grounding assembly includes a grounding cable parallel to and laterally offset from the conduit and a pair of longitudinally extending dihedral angle clamp members provided with longitudinally serrated confronting concave faces which embrace the conduit and have interdigitating hinge knuckles along their proximal longitudinal edges engaging the grounding cable. A screw engages a tapped bore and an opening in distal wings on the clamp members to permit their tightening. Longitudinal slots may be formed in the knuckles to facilitate their application to the grounding cable.
Abstract:
A device for transferring the pull on an electrical cable to an anchor point includes a clamp having a cable engaging collar with a tapered bore engaged by a wedge whose advance clamps the cable. The collar is connected by a chain or plastic extension member to an annulus which is locked to an anchoring surface by being clamped between the male and female sections of a screw coupling associated with the cable, the extension member is shorter than the cable between the collar and anchoring point and the collar and wedge may be joined by an integrally formed flexible strap.
Abstract:
Sound attenuation devices are provided that may be temporarily worn in a person's ear. The devices generally include a first flange that is configured to be disposed in a person's ear; a second flange that is positioned proximate to the first flange and is also configured to be disposed in the person's ear (with the second flange having a proximate end that exhibits an oblong perimeter); and a cylindrical shaft extending from an interior portion of the second flange. The shaft includes an integrally connected pull tab; it extends beyond the proximate end of the second flange; and the shaft includes an integrally formed reinforcing member that spans an exterior side of the shaft and at least a portion of the pull tab. The devices further include a sound filter disposed within an internal cavity of the shaft.
Abstract:
Garments including a sleeve and a cuff frame. The sleeve including a cuff and defining a sleeve opening configured to receive an arm, a wrist, and a hand of a wearer. The cuff frame being secured to the sleeve proximate the cuff and configured to support the sleeve opening from collapsing under compressive forces. The cuff frame defines a wrist opening sized to enable the hand and the wrist of the wearer to pass through the wrist opening.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a chemical-mechanical polishing composition comprising silica, one or more tetraalkylammonium salts, one or more bicarbonate salts, one or more alkali metal hydroxides, one or more aminophosphonic acids, one or more rate accelerator compounds, one or more polysaccharides, and water. The polishing composition reduces surface roughness and PSD of polished substrates. The invention further relates to a method of chemically-mechanically polishing a substrate, especially a silicon substrate, using the polishing composition described herein.
Abstract:
A downhole system includes a downhole string insertable within a subterranean wellbore and a roller assembly coupled with the string. The roller assembly includes rollers mounted on lateral sides of the downhole string for reducing the resistance of deploying the string within the wellbore. The string is rotatable about its axis with respect to the roller assembly; bearing surfaces, or low torque surfaces, are included in the roller assembly to further reduce rotational friction so the string precisely positions itself to a designated orientation.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for developing user profiles via search query analysis and linking the user profiles and data sources, to adaptively facilitate the discovery, transfer, and distribution of pertinent knowledge. A user profile builder, linker, and manager analyze users' search queries to learn their interests and habits, build user profiles to reflect the users' interests and habits, and link together profiles of the users with common interests. A data harvester utilizes the user profiles to provide pertinent data to the users based on their interests and habits or those of other users with common interests.
