    Abstract: A light beam scanning system having an automatic focus correction, comprises a flat carrier having first and second oppositely facing reflective surfaces at least one of which has variations defining a recorded signal, first and second lens assemblies positioned against the first and second reflective surfaces, respectively, an optical assembly providing a light beam path between the first and second lens assemblies and a light source. A light beam emitted from the light source is guided to the first reflective surface of the carrier through the first lens assembly and reflected from such first surface and passed through the first lens assembly, along the optical path between the first and second lens assemblies and through the second lens assembly. The first and second lens assemblies are arranged so that their respective image magnifications or magnification factors satisfy a specific interrelation, thereby to establish the autofocusing of the light beam at the second reflective surface. The light beam directed toward the first reflective surface is focused by said first lens assembly at a point which is spaced along said path from said first surface in the direction toward said first lens assembly.

    Abstract: In a color picture tube having an electron gun within the neck portion of its envelope for directing and focusing a plurality of electron beams at a color phosphor screen on a face plate of the conical envelope portion, a first high voltage for operation of the gun is supplied to the latter through a conductive layer on the inner surface of the conical envelope portion, and a second high voltage required for operation of the gun is supplied to the latter by way of a lead wire extending within the conical envelope portion through a conductive tubular member which is electrically connected with the conductive layer and insulated from the lead wire. The conductive tubular member is electrically connected with the conductive layer by an arcuate spring member which further serves to accurately and securely position the tubular member and the lead wire therein within the tube envelope, thereby ensuring proper engagement with the gun of a contact member that extends from the lead wire.

    Abstract: In an exposure apparatus or lighthouse for use in the direct photographic production of a phosphor screen on the face-plate of a color picture tube or kinescope of the type having a mask with apertures therein associated with the phosphor screen, and in which the face-plate and mask are held in predetermined relation to each other during the selective exposure through apertures of the mask of a photosensitive layer on the face-plate by means of light rays passing through a correcting lens from a light source; such light source is linear so that light rays from locations along the light source reach each selectively exposed portion of the photosensitive layer, and the correcting lens, whose effective surface consists of a plurality of refractive surface sections having discontinuous borderlines, is arranged with such discontinuous borderlines extending at angles to the direction of the linear light source for avoiding the casting of shadows on the photosensitive layer by the discontinuous borderlines.

    Abstract: 1,234,513. Colour television tubes. SONY CORP. 8 April, 1969 [14 April. 1968], No. 17755/69. Heading H1D. In a colour television tube of the type wherein three co-planar electron beams follow divergent paths through a common focusing lens (of which part of the last electrode G5 is shown in Fig. 3) and are converged on the apertures of a grid or shadow mask by means of two pairs of deflection plates PP 1 and QQ 1 , the outer plates Q and Q 1 are supported by insulating members 25 of glass or -the like which extend across -and -are secured to the outer surfaces of the plates, the members 25 being supported by conductive pins 24 which extend through notches in the sides of the plates Q to the plates P. In this way the deflection space is shielded from any electric field produced by charges on the insulation 25, and further shielding is provided by-flaring the ends of the plate Q as shown in Fig. 3. The inner plates P may be provided with tabs .23 which are welded to a flange 53 on electrode G5 which is supported from the envelope by two discs, of which one 31 is shown in Fig. 3. Spring contact elements (27, Fig. 2, not shown) extend from the flange 53 to a wall coating to supply the-required voltage to electrode G5 and the inner plates P. The outer plates Q are'connected together by a lead 40, and a lead 36 extends to a button on the envelope to supply the required potential.
