    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film improved in abrasion resistance during high-speed running and traveling by blending 2 kinds of cross-linked polymer particles mutually differing in properties and each having a ratio R of the particle size DZ thereof in the thickness-wise direction of the film to the particle size DM thereof in the longer direction of the film falling in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The polyester film contains cross-linked polymer particles (X) having a ratio R (DZ/DM) of 1 to 1.2 and cross-linked polymer particles (Y) having a ratio R of 1.2 to 5. Pref. examples of a polyester used in the polyester film include those contg. an alkylene terephthalate as the main constituent. The average particle sizes of the cross-linked polymer particles (X) and (Y) are each pref. 0.005 to 3mum. The X as well as Y content is pref. 0.005 to 3wt.%, while the (particle X/particle Y) quantitative ratio for the two kinds of cross-linked polymer particles is pref. at most 0.7. It is pref. from the viewpoint of abrasion resistance that the particles (X) and (Y) be contained in the same outermost surface layer on at least one surface side of the film, and that the relationship between the thickness (t) of that layer of the film and the particle size (d) of the particles (X) be represented by the formula: 0.2d to 5X10 /mm .

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polyester composition containing polymer particles composed of a polymer having a constituent unit of a monomer residue including an unsaturated double bond-containing compound residue and exhibiting an exothermic thermotropy under a specified heating condition and capable of forming a film excellent in traveling properties and abrasion resistance. CONSTITUTION:Polymer particles synthesized by emulsion polymerization of a compound having an unsaturated double bond, e.g. divinylbenzene, ethylvinylbenzene or styrene and having 0.3mum average particle size are dispersed in ethylene glycol and the resultant dispersion is further treated with a sand grinder to prepare an ethylene glycol slurry containing the polymer particles. On the other hand, dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol, manganese acetate and antimony trioxide are heated at 145 to 235 deg.C to conduct transesterification and phosphoric acid and the polymer particle-containing ethylene glycol slurry prepared in the preceding process are subsequently added thereto. The resultant mixture is subjected to polycondensation reaction at 290 deg.C under a reduced pressure, thus producing the objective polyester composition containing the polymer particles exhibiting an exothermic thermotropy within a range of 50 to 200 deg.C when being heated at 10 deg.C/min heating rate.

CONSTITUTION:This composition contains alumina particles having at least one kind of shape selected from a spherical, elliptical, cubic and parallelopipedon shapes, a particle diameter ratio expressed by length/breadth of 1.0-1.4, preferably 1.0-1.2, and a mean particle diameter of preferably 0.1-1mum.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a laminate polyester film having excellent abrasion resistance, heat stability and image quality at dubbing by adding cubic zirconium oxide particle in one utmost outer layer of a laminate film consisting of two- layer structure. CONSTITUTION:As a polyester for constituting a laminate polyester film, polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene-2, 6-naphthalene dicarboxylate which can form the film is particularly preferable. Zirconium oxide particle can be obtained from zircon sand and boddeleyite to be produced naturally. The zirconium oxide particle can be produced by melting the zircon sand, making oxy- zirconium chloride, and burning zirconium hydroxide. The crystal structure of the zirconium oxide particle to be used is cubic. The zirconium oxide particle is added in at least one utmost outer layer of the laminate film consisting of at least two-layer structure.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve scratch resistance and shaping resistance an to be preferrably used for use application such as magnetic recording medium by forming of thermoplastic resin such that a film laminated on a polyester layer has a glass transition temperature below a specific value, and incorporating a specific value of surface roughness ration therein and specific thickness therein. CONSTITUTION:The biaxialy oriented polyester film comprises polyester produced by polycondensation of bifunctional component such as aromatic dicorboxylic acid or its dialkyl eater and glycol component as the material. A biaxially oriented film in which a B layer is laminated on a least one side surface of an A layer made of the polyester is used. The B layer is formed of thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature of 50 deg.C or lower and the biaxially oriented polyester film having a ratio Rt/Ra of the surface roughness of the B layer of 15 or less. The biaxially oriented laminated polyester film has a thickness of the B layer is 0.02-3mum. (Ra is the centerline means roughness, and Rt is the maximum roughness, i.e., the distance between the highest crest and the deepest trough of a roughness curve.

CONSTITUTION:The biaxially oriented polyester film comprises polyester produced by polycondensation of bifunctional component such as aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its dialkyl ester and glycol component as the materials. A biaxially oriented film of polyester composition mixed with thermoplastic resin in the polyester is used. The glass transition temperature Tg of the resin is 50 deg.C or lower, and the mixing amount with the composition is 5 to 50wt.%. The biaxially oriented polyester film has ratio Rt/Ra of the surface roughness of the film of 15 or less (where Ra is the centerline mean roughness, and Rt is the maximum roughness, i.e., the distance between the highest crest and the deepest through a curve.
