Abstract:
A vehicle-supporting surface incorporating at least one rail (102). The surface includes first and second panels (106A, 312) of compressible material that are arranged to be fitted together such that a surface of the first panel at least partially abuts a corresponding surface of the second panel. The first and second panels each include respective interengagable formations (126A, 310) at least partially embedded within them and located at their abutting surfaces. The interengagable formations are configured to at least partially counteract forces resulting from the compression of the panels in the region of the abutment.
Abstract:
A cover element (6) is described for covering ground parts. Such a cover element (6) comprises a basically flat element with an upper side and a side directed towards the ground. With this, the side of the element directed towards the ground is provided with a porous, yet solid substance-proof layer. In addition, a working method for covering a ground part is described, including at least one cover element (6) according to the invention, which is placed onto the ground part to be covered.
Abstract:
In lawn covers made of paving stones (10) mutually separated by a relatively large gap, the paving stones are linked to each other so as not to move in relation to each other by a holding grid (11) imbedded in the paving stones (10) and composed of traction-resistant branches, so that traction forces are transmitted and the paving stones (10) are mutually secured as a linked group of paving stones by the holding grid (11). The set of paving stones is produced in an essentially classical concrete stone mould. A moulding box (19) arranged on a bearing board (28) or draw plate (29) is horizontally subdivided along the horizontal plane (33), forming a top partial moulding box (34) and a bottom partial moulding box (35). The holding grid (11) is clamped between both partial moulding boxes during concreting. When a group of paving stones is ready, the bottom partial moulding box (35) withdrawn from the concrete stone mould. The finished product can then be removed as usual from the mould.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a structure for the reinforcement of pavements. The structure is provided at predetermined positions with interruptions or with weakened zones. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing such a structure and to a method of breaking up a pavement reinforced with such a structure.

Abstract:
A pre-fabricated concrete slab system and method have matching rectangular slabs with cooperatively fitting male and female type connectors (26, 32, 106, 118) which fit adjacent to each other in a checkerboard fashion. The slabs (10, 12, 100) include spaced reinforcing rods (18, 36, 102, 104) extending longitudinally and transversely therethrough. In at least some of the slabs, the rods' distal ends protrude outwardly away from one or more side edges of the slabs to form a plurality of male connectors (26, 106). Correspondingly, at least some of the slabs include a plurality of corresponding female sockets (32, 118) on one or more sides thereof, each female socket receiving a corresponding male connector when dropped therein. Through interconnection of corresponding female sockets and male connectors by steel reinforcing bars extending in both the longitudinal and transverse directions, a continuous tension reinforcement is established between adjacent slabs in both the longitudinal and transverse directions.
Abstract:
A mat system includes a surface and at least first and second mat units (12,14). Each mat unit includes a respective plurality of blocks (24) interlinked by respective cables (26) that pass through the blocks. Each mat unit includes cable loops (36) along at least one side section thereof. The first and second mat units are positioned on the surface in proximity to each other with cable loops of the first mat unit extending toward the second mat unit and cable loops of the second mat unit extending toward the first mat unit. A plurality of interconnecting blocks (30) are positioned between the first mat unit (12) and the second mat unit (14). Each interconnecting block (30) includes an underside with downwardly open channels (40,42) formed therein. The cable loops of the first and second mat units are positioned within the channels of the interconnecting blocks to cover the cable loops. The interconnecting blocks and the blocks forming the first and second mat units are sized, shaped and positioned such that upper surfaces thereof form a substantially continuous surface.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an improved surface covering assembly. The assembly consists of a plurality of elongated adjacent panels which, in a preferred embodiment, are attached to an elongated sheet of flexible material. The sheet can further comprise covering such as synthetic turf, carpet, etc. The surface covering assembly can thus be rolled/folded and unrolled/unfolded as desired. Multiple assemblies can be joined together to cover larger areas.
