Abstract:
An artificial flagstone for use in combination with other similar flagstones for covering a surface with a natural random look, the flagstone having a generally hexagonal body comprising a first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth consecutive vertices; a first pair of first and second sides extending radially from the first vertex; a second pair of third and fourth sides extending radially from the third vertex; a third pair of fifth and sixth sides extending radially from the fifth vertex; wherein the sides of at least one of the first, second and third pair of sides have at least one split deviation along their length and are respectively rotational images of each other, and the artificial flagstone has no rotational symmetry when rotated about a central axis.
Abstract:
Surface coverings, such as floor coverings, with an interlocking design are described. Methods of making the surface coverings are further described.
Abstract:
A covering unit for use in combination with similar units for covering a surface with a natural random look, the unit having an hexagonal body comprising first, second and third pairs of opposed and parallel sides. Each side has a central point of angular symmetry. The second and third pairs are similar to each other while the first pair is different from the others. The sides of the second and third pairs are provided with at least one split deviation along their length arranged so that each side of the second pair is a rotational image of the sides of the third pair, whereby in use in combination with other covering units: each side is matingly engageable with the sides of an equivalent pair of a neighbouring unit; and the unit has a central point of angular symmetry and is matingly engageable with a plurality of neighbouring unit.
Abstract:
A modular flooring assembly for heavy-duty applications is presented. It is made of a plurality of interlockable mat units, each mat having a plurality of edges with at least one edge having a connector in the plane of the mat unit. Each connector is made of a plurality of alternating teeth and grooves respectively adapted to engage the grooves and the teeth of another mat unit. Each groove has a first bevel with respect to the plane extending along its back wall and a rear portion of its corresponding side walls. Each tooth has a second bevel with respect to the plane extending along its front wall and a front portion of its corresponding side walls. The first and the second bevels are complementary and each side wall form a twist transition between the first and second bevels.
Abstract:
A polymeric interlocking tile for an adhesive-free assemblage with adjacent tiles having substantially similar, but inverted, edge interlocks thereon. The interlocks on each edge of a tile include a row of first and second sets of male-female types of alternating interlocks. The first interlock set includes a male lug projection having sidewalls forming one sidewall of a channel of U-shaped cross-section. The channel forms a female interlock cavity for the first set. The second interlock set is contiguous to the first set and includes a male projecting rib having two parallel sidewalls, one sidewall faces the edge and forms an opposite sidewall of the channel and an opposite, inwardly facing sidewall forms an enclosure for a second female cavity of the next set. At the opposite ends of each interlock row, the U-shaped channel sidewalls are wider to facilitate an initial interlock meshing between contiguous tiles of the assemblage.
Abstract:
A modular surfacing mat that includes a base mat, a top mat secured to the base mat with an adhesive, and a top coat applied to the top of the top mat to form a protective finish. The top coat may be any coating that provides a protective top finish on the mat, and is preferably a polyurea or polyurethane. The top coat may include a colorant. The top mat is preferably at least partially made from rubber. For example, recycled rubber may be used. The adhesive that bonds the top mat to the base mat is preferably a polyurethane or a polyurea. The base mat is preferably made from a cellular foam structure. For example, cellular foam strucutre may be closed cell polyethylene foam nuggets fused together in a crosslinked matrix.
Abstract:
A floor mat laid on a floor surface, constructed from a sheet-like or plate-like member with a predetermined thickness. The mat has relatively hard edge portions (4) at both ends in its width direction, and the edge portions (4) are formed as inclined surfaces gradually descending in a predetermined width to the outer edges of the mat. A belt-like central portion with a predetermined width is provided inside the edge portions (4), and the central portion is formed as an elastic portion that has a uniform thickness or height corresponding to the thickness of inner ends of the edge portions (4) and is softer in elasticity than the edge portions (4). In another example, the mat has a support mat (1) and a belt-like elastic mat (2). A receiving portion (3) is formed between the edge portions (4) of the support mat (1), in the front face side or back face side of the support mat. The elastic mat (2) is received in the receiving portion (3), serving as an elastic portion. In still another example, an elastic portion (2′) can be constituted of a space portion (3′) and a large number of projections (33). The space portion (3′) is formed as an upward recess with a predetermined depth formed in the installation surface side of the mat. The projections (33) are projected downward in the space portion (3′) and their lower end surfaces are in elastically contact with the floor surface.
Abstract:
A decorative paving tile or panel comprises a plurality of irregularly shaped stone elements of the same or differing thickness embedded in a backing layer or base to form a tile or panel of the predetermined thickness wherein the normally exposed surfaces of said stone elements lie in a plane substantially parallel to a mounting surface of said backing layer or base. A flowable displacement material may be employed in the interstices between-adjacent stone elements and/or a boundary wall of a tile or panel mould to forma grouting channel. An irregular space between adjacent stone elements of adjacent tiles or panels allows the formation of an optically seamless tiled or panelled surface when grouted.
Abstract:
A tile for forming a modular deck with like-configured tiles, the tile having a web having a planar polygonal upper surface and a lower surface, a web strengthening structure on said lower surface, and a plurality of peripheral edges, where at least one of the edges includes a male connecting portion having a lateral tongue extending from the peripheral edge, and at least one of the edges includes a female connecting portion defining a lateral recess in the peripheral edge. In one embodiment, at least three of the peripheral edges include either of the male connecting portions or the female connecting portions.
Abstract:
A flooring system for use in a residential environment. The flooring system includes a subfloor adapted to support the mass of a user and modular surface covering elements for disposition in edge to edge covering arrangement across at least a portion of the subfloor. The modular surface covering elements include a pile fabric face with an arrangement of yarns projecting outwardly defining a pile layer for contact by a user. At least one layer of cushioning material is disposed in contacting relation at a position below the pile fabric face.
