Abstract: The invention relates to a storage compartment (1) for a vehicle, having a storage compartment cover (2) which is pivotably mounted toward two sides. The latter can be pivoted either toward one side or toward the other side. In order to design the storage compartment (1) such that it can be operated as simply and conveniently as possible and is secure, provision is made for the storage compartment cover (2) to have two locked axes of rotation (21, 22) in its closed position. After one axis of rotation (21) is released, a driving device (3) automatically pivots the storage compartment cover (2) in a damped manner into an open position.

Abstract: The invention relates to an electromagnetic friction clutch for arrangement within a drive train connecting a drive motor and a vehicle door. The vehicle door is reliably held in any intermediate position when a clutch is disconnected. To preserve the ability to carry out a manual emergency actuation of the vehicle door, a compression spring is provided acting upon an armature disk of the clutch in the axial direction in such a way that, with the clutch in the disconnected state, the armature disk is pressed against the frictional lining of a rotor part with a force which is sufficient to ensure that the vehicle door remains reliably in position. During a subsequent manual actuation of the vehicle door, the frictional connection between armature disk and frictional lining can be overcome.

The first hinge portion includes a spring having a first end connected to a second end of the link and a second end connected to the guide channel. The second hinge portion includes a dampener that is operably connected between the guide channel and the second end of the link. Both the first and second hinge portions can include a dampener.

Abstract: An automatic door closer for a sliding door. The closer has a reel with a cable extending around a pulley on the end of the rod of a return mechanism. In preferred embodiments, the return mechanism is an oil dammed gas spring or a magnetic spring. A spool rotates on a common shaft with the reel and is wound with a flat tape which is attached to the door frame. The reel, spool, return mechanism and cable are attached to the door so that application of an opening force will cause the cylinder rod to retract. Upon release, the stored energy will cause the rod to extend, rotating the reel and spool to wind the tape onto the spool applying a controlled rate closing force. The spool has a core with a greater diameter than the core of the reel so a mechanical advantage exists between the spool and reel and friction is reduced.

Abstract: A sliding door closer for automatically returning a sliding door to a closed position includes a gas spring having a cylinder and a rod slidingly received thereby. Pressurized gas within the cylinder urges the rod to an extended position. A block and tackle pulley system is secured to the opposing ends of the gas spring for rotatably supporting a cable extending between the sliding door and the door jamb. The gas spring rod is compressed as the door is opened. Extension of the gas spring rod causes the door to close when released. A piston secured to the gas spring rod has an orifice therein for causing the rod to extend at a controlled rate. The cylinder includes a quantity of oil to cushion the final extension of the rod to further slow the final closing of the door.
