Abstract: An optoelectronic system includes a concentration layer, a modulation layer including an array of light modulators, an exit layer that receives the modulation layer output having a modulation layer output spatial distribution and remaps the modulation layer output spatial distribution to a modified spatial distribution. A collector layer receives the modified spatial distribution to produce a collector layer output. A detector receives the collector layer output. A processor controls the modulation layer and receives the detector output to generate an image. The collector layer can receive the modified spatial distribution at a plurality of collector layer inputs and combine the plurality of collector layer inputs at a collector layer output. Modulators can be configured to direct couple modulated light to a collector layer, without using an exit layer. Configurations with spatial light modulator modules and sub-modules are described.

Abstract: A reflective display device includes an electrophoretic display (EPD) module, an optical layer, a color filter layer, and at least one quantum dot (QD). The optical layer is located above the electrophoretic display module. The color filter layer is located on the optical layer. The quantum dot is located between the optical layer and the electrophoretic display module. When first light passes through the optical layer and transmits to the quantum dot, the quantum dot emits second light, and the electrophoretic display module is configured to reflect the second light to irradiate outwards from the color filter layer.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a liquid crystal display device including a light source unit which supplies light to a liquid crystal panel, a lower polarizing plate disposed below the liquid crystal panel, an upper polarizing plate, a light absorption filter, and a fluorescent filter disposed above the liquid crystal panel. According to the present disclosure, when a laser pointer in a visible ray region illuminates after implementing a display image, light irradiated by the laser is absorbed by the fluorescent filter and the light absorption filter to convert the light into red, green, and blue light to be emitted, thereby improving visibility in accordance with illumination of a laser pointer.

Abstract: Liquid crystal modulator optical devices and more specifically shutters and smart windows are presented. The liquid crystal modulator devices are characterized by a reduced polymer content which is eliminated from the material composition of the liquid crystal layer and characterized by non-uniform electrode structures in the liquid crystal structure configured to generate spatially non-uniform electric fields and therefore non-uniform molecular reorientation of liquid crystal molecules. This arrangement advantageously makes light scattering electrically controllable.
