Abstract:
A remote control device is which key use is monitored. A command key, representative of an appliance function, may be correlated to a target appliance that is determined, as a function of the monitored key use, to be the most likely intended recipient of a command to perform that appliance function. An activity key may also be programmed so as to perform a series of actions that are representative of a sequence of monitored key uses.
Abstract:
An extensible type universal remote control and a method of operating the same is provided, a basic unit of the universal remote control is provided with buttons commonly used for controlling multiple pieces of electronic equipment, and an additional unit detachably connected to the basic unit is provided with additional buttons used only for controlling specific pieces of electronic equipment, so that the number of buttons of the universal remote control can be reduced and the universal remote control can be upgraded to ensure efficient control for new functions added to pieces of electronic equipment. The basic unit also has a remote-control signal transmitting section for transmitting a relevant equipment key code to relevant pieces of electronic equipment; and an extension connection terminal portion formed with data lines for receiving a relevant key code that is generated according to the additional unit.
Abstract:
A method for transferring information to a remote control includes storing information in a transfer medium, inserting the transfer medium into a remote control that may or may not have already been programmed with information of the same type as that in the transfer medium, inputting the information from the transfer medium, and storing the information from the transfer medium in memory. Another embodiment of the method transfers information between remote controls. A remote control includes a processor, memory, and a transfer medium port. The processor is responsive to a data signal and the port is adapted to receive a transfer medium with information to be transferred to the remote control. The processor stores the information in memory. The remote control may also download information, which is to be transferred to other remote controls, into the transfer medium and the transfer medium may be reused to program additional remote controls.
Abstract:
A remote control device including a processor and a motion detector in communication with the processor. The device also includes at least one input device in communication with the processor and a directional mode indicator in communication with the processor, the directional mode indicator for indicating the mode of operation of the device based on a signal generated by the motion detector.
Abstract:
A universal remote controller includes a card and a housing. The card includes an information tag. The housing includes a touch panel, a slot, a reader, a memory, a processor, and a signal transmitter. The memory is used for storing a plurality of databases. When the card is inserted to the slot, the reader in the housing induces the driving signal corresponding to the information tag of the card. The processor enables a corresponding database from the memory according to the driving signal and further provides a plurality of remote control functions on the transparent touch panel corresponding to positions of a plurality of key images according to the enabled database.
Abstract:
The user interaction system comprises a portable pointing device (101) connected to a camera (102) and sending pictures to a digital signal processor (120), capable of recognizing an object (130) and a command given by the user (100) by moving the pointing device (101) in a specific way, and controlling an electrical apparatus (110) on the basis of this recognition.
