Abstract:
A telephony device (30) comprises a radio interface (54), a user interface section (58), a memory and a processor (56). The radio interface (54) is configured to receive (3-1) a notification of an incoming call from a telephony network (40). The user interface section (58) is configured to facilitate interaction with a user of the telephony device (30). The memory comprises a local contact book (72), the local contact book (72) comprising a pairing of calling party telephone information and corresponding caller identification information. The processor (56) is configured, upon receipt (3-1) of the notification of the incoming call, to use the calling party telephone information to obtain (3-2) paired caller identification information from the local contact book (72) and to provide (3-3) an indication of the paired caller identification information to the user interface section (58).
Abstract:
The Internet Protocol telephony system comprises a registration unit; a signal handling interface; a rules engine; and a call processing interface. The registration unit is configured to store, in association with a customer record, a notification list of one or more telephony devices that that are to be notified upon receipt by the Internet Protocol telephony system of a communication addressed to a customer identifier corresponding to the customer record. The signal handling interface is configured to receive a signal originated by a telephony device. The rules engine is configured to consult the notification list and apply rules logic to determine in what order the one or more telephony devices on the notification list are to be notified. The call processing interface is configured to route notifications to the one or more telephony devices.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for intelligently configuring a native application are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for intelligently configuring a native application installed on a user device associated with a user may include determining application configuration settings for the native application based on (a) user information and (b) an application usage profile of the native application, and configuring the native application based on the determined application configuration settings.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for voice and video messaging are provided here. In some embodiments a method for voice and video messaging may include establishing a telecommunication session with a calling device associated with a first user in response to an indication that a call request from the calling device directed to a called identifier associated with a second user failed, providing to the calling device an option to leave a video message and an option to leave an audio message, receiving a selection from the calling device indicating the selection of the option to leave a video message, disconnecting the established telecommunication session, and receiving a video message from the calling device. Enable the calling user to switch between leaving a voice message and leaving a video message.
Abstract:
IP telephony communications are conducted by sending both data produced by a CODEC that represents received spoken audio input, and a textual representation of the spoken audio input. A receiving device utilizes the textual representation of the spoken audio input to help recreate the spoken audio input when a portion of the CODEC data is missing. The textual representation can be generated by a speech-to-text function. Alternatively, the textual representation can be a notation of extracted phonemes.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for establishing an IP telephone call to a called party's telephony device include attempting to send a call setup request directly to the called party's telephony device, and requesting that a push notification be sent to the called party's telephony device. If the direct request does not reach the called party's telephony device, the push notification will result in the called party's telephony device contacting the IP telephony system to setup the requested call. In some embodiments, the request for a push notification is not sent until the direct request is determined to have failed.
Abstract:
A method for call handling comprising receiving, from a first device, an incoming call request directed to a second device, wherein the call request contains call handling information and transmitting an outgoing call request to the second device, wherein the outgoing call request is based at least in part upon the call handling information.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for routing Application Programming Interface (API) calls from a partner entity to a telephony service provider (TSP) network are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for routing API calls may include receiving a first message including an API call and a partner API key used to authenticate the partner entity on the TSP network to access a partner API layer disposed on the TSP network, extracting the partner API key from the first message, performing an authentication process to authenticate an identity of the partner entity using at least the extracted partner API key, and routing the first message based on results of the authentication process. In some embodiments, the first message is routed to the partner API layer disposed on the TSP network when the identity of the partner entity is authenticated.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of preventing an Internet service provider from identifying a stream of data packets as carrying a voice over Internet protocol telephony communication can make use of encryption techniques to prevent the Internet service provider from examining the content of the data packets. Also, multiple communications channels may be established between a telephony device and elements of an IP telephony system. A stream of data packets bearing the media of an IP telephony communication is then separated into sub-streams, and each sub-stream is sent through a different one of the communications channels. This prevents an Internet service provider from identifying a stream of data packets as bearing the media of an IP telephony communication based on a pattern in the data traffic.
Abstract:
A system and method for enabling a user to purchase an instant mobile telephony services plan makes use of an application on a mobile telephony device. The user can purchase an instant mobile plan via a third party merchant. Once purchased, the user can also make use of the application on the user's mobile telephony device to obtain the purchased telephony services. The communications services provider that provides services to the user under an instant mobile plan may be different from the communications services provider that is tied to the user's mobile telephony device.
