Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for visually measuring brightness of illumination surrounding a display is provided to measure the brightness of surrounding illumination at a low cost without using an additional device such as a colorimeter or a matching card. CONSTITUTION: Reference brightness is determined based on the kind of a display(S140). A user inputs information about a place where the display is used(S200). Brightness values of predetermined brightness sections are determined based on the reference brightness and the information input by the user. Brightness of predetermined reference image is converted into brightness values corresponding to the brightness sections. Images whose brightness has been converted is displayed to the user(S320). The user inputs information about an image whose brightness is the closest to brightness of illumination surrounding the display to measure the brightness of the surrounding illumination(S340).

Abstract: PURPOSE: A display characterization method and a device therefor are provided to produce a characterization profile reflecting a changed color feature control variable value even when a user temporarily changes the color feature control variable of the display, so as to implement color matching under any color control state of the display without a color measurement unit. CONSTITUTION: A color feature control variable value of a display is read(210). A control variable checking unit checks whether a change exists in the color feature control variable of the display(220). If so, a user decides whether to produce a new characterization profile(230). If so, a characterization variable calculating unit reads newly set color feature control variable values, such as brightness, contrast, and white color temperature values(240). The characterization variable calculating unit calculates a gamma value that is a color characterization variable for the newly set brightness and contrast(250), using a gamma lookup table(300) according to the brightness and contrast stored in a characterization variable storing unit. The characterization variable calculating unit calculates white chromaticity, that is a color characterization variable for the newly set white color temperature(260), using a white chromaticity lookup table(310) according to the white color temperature stored in the characterization variable storing unit. A characterization profile re-producing unit records a characterization profile in a profile storing unit(122), using the calculated gamma value and white chromaticity value and a pre-stored primary chromaticity value, to reproduce the characterization profile(270).

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for detecting faces from color images is provided to retrieve entire images of a face by selecting a face color region of a color image to retrieve the region only, and by using a retrieving window of the selected region as a face color region to detect a face. CONSTITUTION: Face regions are divided on the basis of colors of color images. Face regions are selected by a regular standard. The selected face regions are labelled. Regions which are not the face regions are eliminated on the basis of predetermined face region sizes. Convex shape regions and concave shape regions are detected on corresponding images of the face regions passing through filtering processes. Available face detecting regions are filtered by using a face retrieving window, to analyze distributions of the convex/the concave shape regions. A final face region is decided by using a size of the face detecting window for the available face detecting regions.

Abstract: The venturi tube(5) which produces a difference of the pressure by the draft of air is a solid tube with a large diameter(5b) and a small diameter(a).
