Abstract: A transmission method and a reception method for a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system are provided to maximally guarantee inverse compatibility of a real service signal in a receiver by transmitting hierarchical modulation information without changing a transmission format of the service signal. A first hierarchical signal and a second layer signal corresponding to data added to the first hierarchical data are modulated by using each modulation mode(S240).
