Abstract:
An apparatus, method and system for receiving an input indicating a mode into which to set a user equipment (UE) and at least one further UE associated with the UE, determining whether a connection circuit switched (CS) connectivity or packet switched (PS) connectivity and when the connection is the CS connectivity, generating a short messaging service (SMS) message that indicates the mode corresponding to the input. Also, receiving connectivity information for a plurality of UEs from a cloud network component, the UEs being associated with one another, the connectivity being CS connectivity or PS connectivity, receiving a response indication corresponding to a response performed on an incoming call by a first one of the UEs, the first UE having a PS connectivity, matching the response indication to a corresponding cause code and transmitting the corresponding cause code to a second one of the UEs having a CS connectivity.
Abstract:
Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment (UE) device to adaptively provide enhanced the quality of service (QoS) for an application. The UE may request a dedicated bearer or flow for communications conducted over a network between a UE application and a server associated with the application. The UE may use various information, including a QoS profile associated with the application, to determine requested QoS parameters and/or determine whether to provide the enhanced QoS functionality, e.g., whether to request the dedicated bearer/flow from the network. These techniques may tend to provide more appropriate QoS to the application, which may improve user experience.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to techniques for enabling a user equipment (UE) to determine which cell to attach to in a heterogeneous network (HetNet). The UE may determine, based on the quality of the downlink (DL) channel and/or on the type of traffic between the UE and a current base station, whether to attach to a small cell base station or an overlay macro base station in the cellular network. Particularly, the UE may determine whether to use a received mobility offset during cell reselection in response to a measured quality of the DL channel.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a UE is configured to, in response to detecting an absence of received packets associated with a voice call over a first time interval of a pre-determined length, initiate transmission of a first control packet to a base station. In some embodiments, the UE is further configured, based on a response to the first control packet, not to drop the packet-switched voice call at least until expiration of a second time interval of a pre-determined length after transmission of the first control packet. In some embodiments, the absence of received packets is an absence of both voice and silence packets. In some embodiments, based on absence of a response to the first control packet, the UE is configured to drop the packet-switched call.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to techniques for scheduling radio resource control connections between a wireless device and a network element of a network in advance. According to some embodiments, a wireless device may provide an indication of one or more types of upcoming data traffic to the network element. The network element may schedule one or more radio resource control connections for the wireless device based at least in part on the indication of one or more types of upcoming data traffic. The network element may provide an indication of the scheduled radio resource control connection(s) to the wireless device. The wireless device and the network may establish the scheduled radio resource control connection at the scheduled time.
Abstract:
A user equipment and a method performed by the user equipment. The user equipment includes a transceiver configured to enable the user equipment to establish a connection with a first network and a second network, the first network configured to provide signals to control a transmit power of the transceiver and a processor configured to control the transmit power of the transceiver. The processor controls the transmit power by determining at least one network operation of the user equipment, the network operation associated with a configuration of the connection with the LTE network, receiving a signal from the LTE network indicating an increase in the transmit power to be used and performing a power operation that adjusts the transmit power of the transceiver less than the increase indicated in the signal.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) and corresponding methods to conserve power by the UE. The UE includes a transceiver, the transceiver configured to enable the UE to establish a connection with a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and configured to operate using a Connected Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) functionality. The processor controls the transceiver by receiving an uplink (UL) grant at a first subframe of a frame of a cycle of the CDRX functionality, transmitting data based upon the UL grant at a predetermined second subframe, and receiving a response from the LTE network corresponding to one of an acknowledgement (ACK) and a negative ACK (NACK) at a predetermined third subframe. The processor deactivates the transmitter for a remainder of the frame based or deactivates a receiver for a remainder of the frame based upon whether the ACK is received.
Abstract:
A method for triggering cell transition in an uplink power limited condition is disclosed. The method can include a wireless communication device determining that the wireless communication device is experiencing an uplink power limited condition; deriving a modified downlink channel quality measurement by adjusting a measured downlink channel quality to indicate a lower downlink channel quality than the measured downlink channel quality; generating a measurement report including the modified downlink channel quality measurement; and sending the measurement report to the serving cell to trigger transition of the wireless communication device from the serving cell to a second cell.
