Abstract:
The invention provides an antiplaque oral composition that includes an orally acceptable carrier; and an antibacterially effective amount of a compound of structure (I) In the structure, R1 and R2 are independently selected from a lower C1-4 alkyl group and R3 and R4 are independently an alkenyl or alkyl group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms. Also included in the invention are toothpastes or tooth gels that include at least one humectant; at least one abrasive compound; and an antibacterially effective amount of the compound represented by the structure of formula (I). Also provided are methods of inhibiting bacterial growth in the oral cavity of an animal by application of the compound of formula (I).
Abstract:
Antiplaque oral compositions are provided that contain an orally acceptable carrier and an antibacterial effective amount of the compound of formula (I). In various embodiments, the compositions contain from about 0.001% to about 10% by weight of the compound of formula (I).
Abstract:
A dual component oral composition to suppress oral malodor and provide long lasting breath protection in the oral cavity which comprises a first dentifrice component having a substantially neutral pH and containing a zinc ion releasable compound and a chlorite ion releasable compound, the second dentifrice component having an acid pH, the first and second components being maintained separate from each other until dispensed and combined for application to teeth, the combined components having a pH of no greater than 7.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides an improved synthesis for a zinc-lysine complex having the formula [Zn(C6H14N2O2)2Cl]+Cl−, in which zinc chloride is reacted with lysine, in aqueous solution. The disclosure also provides oral care and personal care compositions comprising the complex prepared by the synthesis, and methods of using these complexes and compositions.
