Said aq. dispersion stabilizer of fine coal powder has good dispersion performance, it does not form hard cake during storage for a long period, and good in redispersifying property.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a granulating agent for the aqueous slurry of coal powder which is capable of accelerating the granulation of coal powder in water and also of making the removal of ash and inorganics easier from a specific nonionic surfactant as the main component. Then, 0.01-5.0wt% (based on coal) said granulating agent and 1-50wt% oil (e.g., fuel oil, gas oil, etc.) are added to an aqueous coal slurry containing 20-85wt% coal and stirred to granulate the coal powder.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare high quality title compound without causing troubles of sublinated maleic anhydride, by adding an aliphatic alcohol to the reaction produce of an olefin with maleic anhydride, and heating the mixture under reduced pressure to distil out the unreacted raw materials. CONSTITUTION:An alkenylsuccinic acid is prepared in high purity, by (1) reacting an olefin with maleic anhydride, (2) adding a 1-3C aliphatic alcohol to the reaction mixture to esterify the remaining maleic anhydride, and (3) heating the product under reduced pressure to distil out the unreacted alcohol, the unreacted olefin, and maleic acid esters. The alkenylsuccinic acid thus obtained can be converted to a salt by neutralizing with a base. EFFECT:Blocking of a vacuum pump, vacuum lines, etc. with sublimated maleic anhydride, can be prevented.

The compound (A) is, e.g., conjugated polyolefin, alpha-olefin or polybutadiene. The stabilizer is added to the coal-oil-mix (COM) in an amount of 0.01- 1wt% to disperse stably the coal particles inthe fuel oil.
