Abstract:
The doctor device has a profile member pivotally mounted to a retaining member that is carried on a mount. Vertical movement of the mount causes angular displacement of the profile member thereby changing the material applicaton area disposed adjacent and upstream of the doctor. The doctor is either a doctor blade or roll doctor. In the case of a roll doctor, a receptacle is formed in the profile member and the roll doctor is magnetically retained with the receptacle. During application of a material to an application surface with the roll doctor, the roll doctor is magnetically attracted to the application surface by a second magnetic device located beneath the application surface or work surface.
Abstract:
A squeegee device is used for applying materials of varying viscosities, such as coating substances, varnishes and adhesives to an application surface. The squeegee is pressed onto the application surface by a magnetic force. A profile member houses the squeegee and is pivotably supported by a bearing. The bearing allows the squeegee and profile member to be tiltable along an axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the squeegee or profile member in order to insure a tilting-free and bending-free adjustment of the squeegee on the application surface.
Abstract:
Two side coaters and methods of coating paper on both sides are disclosed in which a web of paper to be coated is moved in a generally upward direction in partially wrapped relation to a coating roll, so that one side of the web is in contact with and supported by the roll. This one side of the web is coated by a first coating material which is applied by the coating roll. This coating material is applied to the coating roll by an applicator roll, either directly in which a puddle is formed between the applicator roll and the coating roll, or through transfer from a pair of metering rolls in which the coating puddle is formed between the metering rolls. A second coating, which may be the same as or different from the first coating, is applied by a non-contacting jet fountain coater to an area on the opposite exposed side of the web just ahead of or including the area which is in wrapped relation to the coating roll, and the excess coating is blade doctored, employing the coating roll as a back-up roll for the doctor blade. The .[.blade.]. .Iadd.web .Iaddend.side moves upwardly in view of the operator and is turned for subsequent drying or the like with the blade side up. There are also disclosed arrangements by which the lead-in and lead-out angles of the web may be controlled for the purpose of controlling the angle of contact and degree of wrap of the web with the coating roll. The method further contemplates conventional blade doctoring, bent-blade doctoring, and zero-angle blade doctoring.

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a doctor blade mounting device, which makes it possible even by a beginner to mount a doctor blade to a doctor holder sufficiently accurately in a short period of time without developing undulation in the doctor blade, and a doctor blade mounting method. SOLUTION: In this doctor blade mounting device, a supporting surface 18 equipped with a magnet 23 and the top surface of a lower doctor holder 41 are made flush with each other under the condition that a doctor blade 42 is pushingly moved by a doctor blade adjusting block 21 while the doctor blade 42 being supported by the supporting surface 18. In addition, in the doctor blade mounting method, the doctor blade is supported by a member equipped with the magnet under the state being pinched by the doctor holder. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
