Abstract:
A system for compacting rubbish, including a frame having a front wall, a carrier to be moved in a forwards-backwards direction relative to the frame, an upper scoop pivotably mounted on the carrier about a first horizontal axis and having an upper face for milling rubbish, and a lower scoop pivotably mounted on the upper scoop about a second horizontal axis, and having a lower milling face rubbish. The upper and lower scoops are to take a downwardly deployed position when their respective milling faces face the front wall. The carrier is to be moved forwards when the upper and lower scoops are in deployed position, in such a way as to compact the rubbish between the milling faces and the front wall. In the deployed position, a projection of the upper milling face in a transverse plane has a surface greater than or equal to a projection of the lower milling face in the transverse plane.
Abstract:
A front loading garbage truck with a unique packing blade that creates a self-cleaning garbage truck without the need for manual clean outs and construction for the accomplishment of same. The packing blade includes a top vertical portion that is in a fixed position and a second bottom vertical portion that is retractable into a horizontal position to allow for repeated pass-throughs to collect all debris prior to emptying the garbage from the truck. Additionally, a unique cab shield sits atop the cab portion that contains a plurality of holes on the sides and along the top sloping face to allow ventilation therethrough and prevent damage to the engine caused by excessive heat.
Abstract:
A rear load refuse truck is used for collecting and compacting trash and recyclables, and includes a truck body, and a single tailgate pivotally connected to a rear end of the truck body between open and closed positions. The tailgate has interior walls defining an interior refuse collecting area divided into two chambers by a splitter mounted within the tailgate and adapted to receive trash and recyclables. A single blade is movably mounted within the interior walls for compacting refuse and is configured with a gap for receiving the splitter.
Abstract:
A method of controlling the deposition and packing of refuse in a refuse vehicle body that includes a container handling lift and dump mechanism that automatically grasps, lifts and dumps refuse containers into a charging hopper and a packer panel and attached follower panel operable in the charging hopper, the method comprising causing the container handling lift and dump mechanism to pause before dumping a container in a lift and dump cycle until the packer panel is fully retracted.
Abstract:
An elongated container of a truck has a closed front end wall and a hinged rear outlet closure, and a side infeed opening for receiving garbage. This empty container is configured to receive an elongated base upon which is mounted a reciprocating conveyor floor for moving garbage in the container outward through the opened rear closure for deposit at a garbage disposal site. The power drive mechanism for driving the reciprocating floor is located at the front end of the container and is shielded from input garbage by a deflector secured to the reciprocating floor. The deflector also serves as a pusher for compacting and moving garbage in the container out through the opened rear closure. The self-contained reciprocating floor is easily carried manually and fed through the opened rear closure and secured firmly in the truck container.
Abstract:
An improved front loading or side loading refuse collection body includes an ejector panel which is moveable from a position immediately adjacent the front end wall of the storage compartment of the refuse collection body to a second position at the open rear end of the storage compartment. A compaction blade in a compaction chamber adjacent the front end of the storage compartment is independently driven by a second hydraulic ram. The ejector panel has an opening which is in registry with the opening in the front wall of the storage compartment through which refuse is pushed by the compaction blade. A tray member may be fixed to a side of the ejector panel to catch refuse which falls back through the opening in the ejector panel when it is moved away from the front end of the storage compartment. A multiple compartment body may include two compaction chambers each adjacent one of two storage compartments. Each storage compartment has an ejection panel which is separately operable from the compaction blade of the associated compaction chamber and will sweep commodity from the storage compartment while the compaction blade remains at rest. Each ejection panel includes an aperture which is in registry with the compaction blade of associated compaction chamber.

Abstract:
A mechanism or apparatus mounted on a refuse collection vehicle that is capable of reaching out from that vehicle and grasping a full refuse container, lifting the container vertically off the ground and transporting said container to the side of the refuse collection vehicle, rotating and inverting the container over the center of the refuse collection vehicle's collection hopper and empting the contents of the container into the collection hopper and returning the empty refuse container to the original location, all without spilling any of the contents of the refuse container anywhere other than in the collection hopper.
Abstract:
A body for a refuse collection vehicle includes a frame on which are mounted a hopper compartment and an adjacent storage compartment. The hopper compartment has a pair of opposing sidewalls, a closed forward end, an open rear end and a hopper compartment floor at a first level. The storage compartment also has a forward end that opens into the hopper compartment, a rear end having a tailgate mounted thereon, and a storage compartment floor at a second level. The second level is raised above, or at an elevation higher than, the first level. The refuse collection vehicle body also includes a transition floor between the hopper compartment floor at the first level and the storage compartment floor at the second level, and a crusher panel that is adapted to apply a downwardly directed compressive force to refuse material in the hopper compartment and to sweep said refuse material from the hopper compartment into the storage compartment. The vehicle body also includes means for removing refuse material from the storage compartment.
Abstract:
An improved front-loading refuse collection body includes an ejector panel which is moveable from a position immediately adjacent the front end wall of the storage compartment of the refuse collection body to a second position at the open rear end of the storage compartment. A hydraulic cylinder is mounted to the center of the panel and has a rod which extends at a perpendicular from the panel and is mounted at its distal end to the front wall of the storage compartment. The panel has an opening which is in registry with the opening in the front wall of the storage compartment through which refuse is pushed by the compaction blade of the compaction compartment forward of the front wall of the storage compartment.
