Abstract:
A packing machine comprising a rotary assembly (2) which is adapted to receive articles (4) travelling along a path which is adjacent one region of the periphery of the assembly, and means (26) for receiving foil (14) or other wrapping material, at a different peripheral region, the foil then being oriented in a tangential plane; the assembly further comprising means for reorienting the foil into a plane which is perpendicular to said tangential plane (20) at a subsequent rotary position, where it is suitably aligned with a cooperating article wrapping means (40, 32).
Abstract:
A device is provided for assembling article groups from layers of rod-shaped articles used in the tobacco-processing industry. The rod-shaped articles are stacked one above the other and side-by-side in group forming bins that are intermittently movable in a forward direction. A number of funnels are provided that correspond, respectively, to the number of the article layers. Each funnel is divided into chutes. The chutes of each funnel receive the rod-shaped articles at chute inlets and are arranged for dropping the rod-shaped articles to chute outlets to form a layer of parallel aligned rod-shaped articles. A platform is disposed at each chute outlet for receiving the respective layer of parallel aligned rod-shaped articles. The platforms are staggered at successively different heights to define respective layer planes. Transfer push-rods are associated with a respective one of the funnels and are movable in the axial direction of the rod-shaped articles for pushing a respective one of the layers into a group forming bin. Each transfer rod is disposed at a level corresponding to a height of the respective layer plane and has an elongated slot. A phantom article is arranged at one of the chute outlets of each funnel that corresponds to a placement of the elongated slot in a respective one of the transfer push rods. Each phantom article is displaceable crosswise to the axial direction of the rod-shaped articles in the respective layer.
Abstract:
Blocks of plain or filter cigarettes are accumulated in at least two group building assemblies each of which comprises at least two block forming units receiving cigarettes by gravity flow by way of upright ducts. The assemblies are adjacent the path of a series of successive receptacles which serve to transport discrete blocks stepwise to a multiple-track packing machine. The units accumulate blocks of cigarettes during intervals which include the duration of at least one stepwise movement of the receptacles and that of at least one period of standstill of the receptacles. Such intervals suffice to ensure satisfactory gathering of cigarettes into blocks of required size and shape at a frequency which is required for full-speed operation of the multiple-track packing machine.
Abstract:
A method and unit for transferring articles between a first seat in a given position, and a second seat traveling along a first path, whereby at least one pickup member for picking up the articles is fed along a second path extending between the first seat and the first path; the articles are transferred between the second seat and the pickup member at a point of tangency between the first path and the second path; and the articles are transferred between the first seat and the pickup member as the pickup member travels along a substantially straight portion of the second path, parallel to an input/output direction of the articles with respect to the first seat.
Abstract:
A system for delivering rows of cigarettes, each for forming one layer of a bundle of cigarettes to be packed in a packing machine, includes a number of fluted planetary wheels (42) carried by an annular carrier (44) along a path on which cigarettes are picked up directly from the lower ends of channels (40) formed between vanes (38) in the hopper of the machine. The wheels (42) transfer the cigarettes in rows to flute sets (48) on a coaxial drum (46) from which the rows are further transferred to a delivery drum (22). Generally the packing machine includes three such systems, one for each layer of the bundle of cigarettes to be packed. In an alternative system cigarettes forming one row are picked up substantially simultaneously by row carriers (220) mounted on planetary wheels (226) so as to follow an hypocycloidal path.
Abstract:
A system for inspecting the ends of cigarettes prior to their packaging on a conveyor line. The system provides telecamera units which produce images of the ends of a group of cigarettes. A processing unit then analyses the brightness level of a given area on each cigarette end. The processing unit then counts the total number of areas having a brightness level within a given range and compares that number with that of a reference end image for determining the existence of defects. An expulsion unit is further provided for rejecting those groups of cigarettes which fall below the requirements of the reference end image.
Abstract:
The invention elates to a hopper (1) for smoking articles (S), comprising: an inlet portion (10), for the inlet of smoking articles (S) into the hopper (1); at least an output mouth (B), comprising a plurality of ducts (V), each duct (V) having an inlet (2) and an outlet (20); and a connection portion (3), connecting the inlet portion (10) with the ducts (V) of the output mouth (B) and comprising two lateral walls (30) opposed each other, against which the smoking articles (S) abut and along which the smoking articles (S) flow falls in an output direction (D) toward the output mouth (B). The hopper (1) further comprises a plurality of agitating elements (4), positioned at the inlet (2) of the ducts (V), which receive on them, by gravity, the smoking articles (S) flow; each agitating element (4) being movable with respect to one of its axes for facilitating the smoking articles (S) fall from the connecting portion (3) toward the outlets of the ducts (V), In particular, the hopper (1) comprises at least an unloading element (5), disposed at the connection portion (3), upstream with respect to the agitating elements (4) in the output direction (D); the unloading element (5) being shaped in such a way to receive the smoking articles (S) flow during their fall, and unloading the plurality of agitating elements (4) from the weight of the smoking articles (S) flow.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The system for transferring rod-shaped articles comprises a reservoir for holding a plurality of rod-shaped articles and a conveyor band comprising a seat adapted to receive a rod-shaped article from the reservoir. The system further comprises a speed compensator for compensating a speed variation of a portion of the conveyor band such that a speed of another portion of the conveyor band is kept constant. There is also provided an arrangement for retaining rod-shaped articles in a conveyor band. The arrangement comprises a conveyor wheel, wherein the seat is guidable in the conveyor band around the conveyor wheel and comprises an offset conveyor band arranged in parallel and at a distance to the conveyor band along a section of the conveyor band. The distance is adapted such that the offset conveyor band is to contact a rod-shaped article in the seat of the conveyor band along the section of the conveyor band, wherein the section of the conveyor band comprises at least the part of the conveyor band that is being guided around the conveyor wheel.
