Abstract: Silicone grease compositions are prepared by blending a thickening agent with a liquified crosslinked organosiloxane gel produced using a platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction. The gel is liquified by application of a shearing force to the crosslinked gel. The shearing force can be applied prior to and/or during blending of the gel with the thickener.

Abstract: Disclosed is complex tolylene polyurea-thickened grease containing less than 7 parts per million 2,4-diaminotoluene and a process for making said grease comprising reacting an isocyanate, a polyamine and monoamine with a major portion of a lubricating oil and thereafter adding an alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide and a carboxylic acid anhydride containing 2 to 20 carbon atoms to said mixture and thereafter milling said mixture to the consistency of grease.

Abstract: Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate having a length to average diameter ratio of at least 10:1 can be prepared by forming a melt of materials used as a source of calcium, phosphorus and alkali metal, cooling the melt to about 550.degree. C. to about 970.degree. C., inducing acicular crystal formation, and recovering the acicular crystals. The diameters of the resultant acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates can average as small as 0.5 micron or smaller. Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate can also be prepared with an average diameter of several microns and a length of several centimeters. Such acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates are useful in a number of applications, and particularly to prepare composites with organic polymeric materials.

Abstract: The invention relates to a food-compatible high-temperature lubricant, in particular a high-temperature oil and a high-temperature grease, comprising the following components: a) at least one oil selected from a trimellitic acid ester or a mixture of various trimellitic acid esters, alkyl aromates, preferably an aliphatically substituted naphthalene or estolide; b) a hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated polyisobutylene or a mixture of hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated polyisobutylene and; c) additives, individually or in combination. In the case of the high-temperature grease, a thickening agent is added.

Abstract: A grease composition for use in resin lubrication wherein at least one amine salt of an unsaturated or saturated fatty acid is incorporated in a grease base material which includes a base oil and a thickener, preferably wherein at least one fatty acid amine salt of the following general formula (1) is incorporated: RCOO - R' NH 3 + wherein either (i) R is an unsaturated hydrocarbon group having from 15 to 21 carbon atoms, and R' is a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched hydrocarbon group having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms; or (ii) R is a linear saturated hydrocarbon group having from 5 to 21 carbon atoms, and R' is an unsaturated hydrocarbon group having from 16 to 18 carbon atoms. The grease composition of the- present invention improves the lubricity between resin and resin or resin.and another material such as a metal.

Abstract: The invention relates to thermally conductive greases that may contain carrier oil(s), dispersant(s), and thermally conductive particles, wherein the thermally conductive particles are a mixture of at least three distributions of thermally conductive particles, each of the at least three distributions of thermally conductive particles having an average (D 50 ) particle size which differs from the other average particle sizes by at least a factor of five. The thermally conductive greases of the invention exhibit desirable rheological behavior during installation/ application and during use of devices involving these materials.

Abstract: A grease composition containing: (a) the reaction product of: (i) a calcium containing overbased organic acid; and (ii) at least one acid producing compound or derivatives thereof selected from the group consisting of: (1) a non-polymeric hydrocarbyl substituted dicarbonyl derivative selected from the group consisting of an acid, an ester, a salt, an anhydride, ester-acid, acid-salt and mixtures thereof; (2) a copolymer derived from monomers containing (1) an olefin; and (2) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride or derivatives thereof; and (3) an inorganic acid containing about 2 or more acidic hydrogens; and (b) an oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the overbased calcium sulphonate contains colloidally dispersed calcium carbonate is selected from the group consisting of calcite, vaterite and mixtures thereof. The invention further relates to the process to make the composition and its use in greases to increase water resistance.
