Abstract: The present invention relates to a lubricant for use in the drawing and ironing of black plate steel during the manufacture of enclosed containers such as cans. The lubricant comprises an aqueous solution of an active component, such as a major portion of molybdenum disulfide, together with minor amounts of waxes and other materials. In performing the method of the present invention, a lubricant system is employed. The lubricant system comprises a dual lubricant coating. The first, or outside, coating is applied to that portion of the black plate steel which ultimately becomes the outside surface of the can body. The outside coating is applied, such as by spraying or gravure or offset printing, at a rate of about 25 to about 200 milligrams per square foot of steel surface. This coating is dried, as through the use of a heat source, such as infrared heat or hot air. A second, or inside, coating is applied to that portion of the black plate steel which ultimately becomes the inside surface of the can body. The inside coating may also be applied to the surface of the black plate steel in a manner similar to that used for the application of the outside coating. After the can body is produced, the outside and inside lubricants must be totally removed. Such removal may be achieved by washing the can bodies in an alkaline solution (pH about 7.5 to 11.5) having a temperature of about 140.degree. to about 160.degree. F.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily maintain a lubricating condition of the inside of the solid lubricating rolling bearing for a long period and to extend a bearing life.SOLUTION: Sufficient lubrication is carried out and the breakage and lock of separators 4 and the occlusion of wear powder does not occur during operation, by forming the columnar separator 4 arranged between adjacent two balls 3 respectively between inner and outer rings 1, 2 from sintered bodies of the graphite and binder, by making the composition ratio of the graphite 80 to 98 vol.%, by making the bending strength of the separators 4 to 15 MPa, and by making the specific wearing quantity 1.5 to 2.5×10mm/(N*m). As the result, the lubricating condition between an inner ring rolling face 1a and an outer ring rolling face 2a, and the balls 3 is satisfactorily maintained for a long period and the bearing life can be extended.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dry film lubricant coatings by using a silicone resin binder, either as an aqueous emulsion or in a solvent-based system, to fix an alkaline earth metal fluoride to a substrate.SOLUTION: The compositions used to apply the coatings may also include relatively minor amounts of xylene, ammonium benzoate, a wetting agent, and/or a porosity-inducing agent, although none of those additives remains in the cured coating. Multi-layer dry film lubricant coatings are also disclosed, with the multi-layer coating having a basecoat layer as described above, and a topcoat layer made of a layer-lattice solid such as graphite or molybdenum disulfide, and a silicone resin, aluminum phosphate or an alkali metal silicate binder.

Since the use of organic solvents is dispensed with, health risks and the risk of fire are reduced. Moreover, the composite materials produced according to the invention exhibit excellent cavitation resistance. In addition to conventional lubricant-free applications, such as bearings, these composite materials may consequently be used in particular in gear pumps and shock absorbers.

Abstract: When performing piercing-rolling by use of a plug with a protection film on its surface, applying a lubricant made of an aqueous solution containing a total of 5 to 30% mass % of one or more of boron oxide, boric acid, and amine borate to the protection film on the plug surface, and using this plug for piercing-rolling makes it possible to realize the increase of the life of plug for piecing-rolling without reducing the efficiency of piercing-rolling. The plug can be cooled after the piecing-rolling, the application of the above described lubricant is performed when the surface temperature of the front edge of plug decreases to 100° C. or less, and the plug is reused for the piercing-rolling. In this occasion, the protection film on the plug . surface can be formed by arc spraying iron wire material onto the surface of the base metal of plug, and comprises oxides and Fe.
