Abstract:
Grease compositions including borated epoxides as friction-reducing additives, are thickened with a proportion of metal hydroxy-containing soap grease thickener. Such compositions have unexpectedly high dropping points.

Exemplified applications are as additive to nitrile elastomers (Ex. 10) and to epoxy and polyester resins (Ex. 11). Other polymer bases specified are urethane, phenolic, olefine, acrylate and vinyl polymers and resins, elastomers, and sulphur- and peroxide-cured elastomer systems.
Abstract:
A method for improving wear control in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and encapsulated microscale particles, as a minor component. The minor component contains no sulfur or phosphorus. The encapsulated microscale particles include an encapsulating material and a core material encapsulated by the encapsulating material. The core material includes at least one metal salt selected from a metal oxide, metal hydroxide, metal carbonate, or mixtures thereof. The encapsulating material is derived from a carboxylic acid selected from an aliphatic carboxylic acid, a cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid, an aromatic carboxylic acid, and mixtures thereof. The lubricating oils are useful in internal combustion engines.
Abstract:
Compositions having a plurality of hard particles and a plurality of lubricant nanoparticles are disclosed. Methods of making and using the compositions are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new grease intended particularly to be used in Hooke's joints in order to improve the NVH characteristics of said joints. According to the invention, the grease is comprised, expressed in weight % : 3 to 90 %, and preferably 40 to 70 % of a base oil; 2 to 80 %, and preferably 10 to 50 % of a thickening agent comprised of a dispersion of clay in oil; 0.5 to 10 %, and preferably 3 to 7 % of at least one organic molybdenum compound; 0 to 10 %, and preferably 1 to 5 % of at least one organic zinc compound; and 0 to 10 % of at least one conventional additive for grease.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of an engine oil additive composition is provided to improve fuel consumption by increasing the lubricating function of engine oil. CONSTITUTION: An engine oil additive composition comprises: 60-99 weight% of base oil; 0.001-0.5 weight% of nanodiamond surface-modified to hydrophobicity; 0.05-10 weight% of oleoylamine; 0.01-5 weight% of polyalkenyl succinimide; and 0.5-35 weight% of oleic acid. The nanodiamond surface-modified to the hydrophobicity is manufactured by following steps. Nanodiamond is processed with acid of at least one kind selected from a group consisting of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The acidified nanodiamond is reacted with acid chloride of at least one kind selected from a group consisting of thionyl chloride, phosphorus trichloride and phosphorus pentachloride. The nanodiamond reacted with the acid chloride is reacted with alkylamine of carbon number 16-18. The polyalkenyl succinimide is polysobutenyl succinimide.
