Abstract:
A paving system for paving or flooring includes a top layer of a plurality of paving elements, and an underlayment support layer of a polymeric material configured into panels. The panels are suitable to support the paving elements, the panels having a generally planar support surface and a recovery characteristic such that a deformation from a concentrated compressive load applied for a short duration returns the support surface to a generally planar condition.
Abstract:
A tile for an interlocking rubber mat includes a tile body having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a rectangular peripheral edge. The upper surface is imprinted with a repeating paving stone pattern of a square adjacent an octagon. Each square has four sides of equal length, and each octagon has every second side equal to the sides of the square. A series of projections extend beyond at least one side of the peripheral edge, the space between the projections being adapted to receive the projections of an adjacent tile. Each projection includes a projecting square and a projecting octagon, wherein the projecting square of each projection is adjacent a peripheral octagon of the at least one side of the peripheral edge and the projecting octagon is adjacent a remote side of the projecting square opposite the peripheral octagon. Each peripheral octagon on the at least one side having an associated projection.
Abstract:
A method for supporting heavy equipment at a site is provided. The method includes constructing a plurality of pre-formed reinforced concrete blocks. Each of the concrete blocks is constructed by: providing a concrete form having internal dimensions of at least 1½ feet by 3 feet by 3 feet, inserting a plurality of reinforcing members within the form, pouring concrete into the form over the reinforcing members, allowing the concrete to cure to form a concrete block, and removing the concrete block from the form. The method further includes excavating the site to form an excavated area and placing the plurality of pre-formed reinforced concrete blocks on the excavated area. The present invention also provides a concrete pad which can be formed by the above-described method.
Abstract:
A playing surface comprising a supportive base layer, an intermediate layer such as a foam layer, and a surface layer, wherein the base layer is configured to provide the playing surface with a first predetermined amount of stability and the intermediate layer, e.g. foam layer, is configured to provide the playing surface with an additional, second predetermined amount of stability, the intermediate layer, e.g. foam layer, being further configured to conform to a required performance standard. And a method of constructing a playing surface.
Abstract:
An interlocking building block, and procedure for constructing the same, having a planar locking mechanism and a spatial locking mechanism. The planar locking mechanism being a three-clawed piece built around an equilateral triangle with protruding arms and grooves corresponding to a circular arc. The protruding claws are rotated on a plane around a center of rotation. These align with grooves of another three-clawed piece to offer a locking mechanism, where the center point of the circular arc is identical to the center of planar rotation. The spatial locking mechanism may have a hexagonal prism placed next to the three-clawed piece and connected to the corners of the equilateral triangle, into which the three-clawed piece is placed so that the protruding claws extend beyond the hexagonal prism, or the spatial locking mechanism consists of protrusions ensuring a groove/taper connection and connecting grooves, so that each piece contains protrusions and grooves.
Abstract:
A dual-unit paving system for covering a surface. The system comprises pairs of first and second units. For each pair, the first and second unit have different respective shapes and sizes, and are configured to be matingly engageable for forming a hexagonal assembly having six, non-linear sides. The hexagonal assembly allows forming rotational tessellations. The first and second units are also shaped and configured to be matingly engageable so as to form horizontally aligned tessellations, and also vertically aligned tessellations.
Abstract:
A playing surface comprising a foam layer (1) having a top surface and a plurality of downwardly extending energy dissipating projections (9) and a fibrous carpet layer (2) overlying the top surface of the foam layer (1). The plurality of the energy dissipating projections (9) are arranged to dissipate energy of an impact through deformation to significantly affect a Critical Fall Height of the playing surface. The invention also comprises methods of manufacturing the playing surface.

Abstract:
A floor mat (10) comprising two layers bonded together, preferably with an undulating boundary between them. The surface color and/or surface texture of the first layer being preferably different from the surface color and/or surface texture of the second layer. The mat having an interlocking periphery boundary adapted so the mat can be interlocked with adjoining mats to form a continuous planar mat flooring.
