Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method and system for use in a computing environment to monitor parameters and detect abnormalities. A monitoring system for monitoring a process may include a signature creation module (22) for creating a signature representative of the process, a signature updating module (24) for continuously updating the created signature, and an abnormality detection module (26) for detecting abnormalities based upon deviations from the updated signature. The system may perform a method for detecting abnormalities occurring during a process based upon the continuously updated signature representative of the process. The method may include continuously monitoring a system parameter and computing a normal range of values for the system parameter based on the continuously updated signature. The method may additionally include determining if the monitored system parameter is within the normal range and indicating existence of an abnormality if the monitored system parameter is outside of the normal range.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide reading to and writing from peripherals by using the execution of a temporally separated redundant processor with high safety. SOLUTION: A first processor reads data from a peripheral device and copies the data to a register. A reading attempt from the peripheral by a temporally separated second processor is bypassed to the register, and the data is read from the register. Thereby sameness of the read data is guaranteed. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for creating/updating a backup volume based on a host volume. SOLUTION: A backup volume on a backup system is created/updated by reading data stored on a host volume on a host system. A data profile for the host volume is generated based on the read data, where the data profile characterizes the data stored on the host volume. SOLUTION: In a method for testing a semiconductor chip, especially, a semiconductor memory chip, at least one test mode is set in a chip to be tested, the test mode is performed in the chip, the test result is outputted from the chip. After setting the test mode, and before performing the test mode, a verification mode is performed, and in the test mode, a state of the test mode set in the chip is read with the prescribed format.
