Abstract:
A method, system, and processor readable medium allows a user to download information to a device within a predetermined period of time at a predetermined price. In an embodiment of the present invention, a processing device is coupled to a wide area network, including a cellular network, and transfers information to the device. A user selects a representation of the information to be downloaded. A user also selects a displayed associated predetermined price, in a plurality of prices, and respective predetermined download periods of time. A processing device transfers the information to the device within the selected predetermined period of time. The respective download periods of time are determined in response to a measured download rate and size of the information. In embodiments of the present invention, the information includes processor executable software such as a ring tone or a software game. In an embodiment of the present invention, the device is a cellular device, having a WAP browser, in a short-range radio network.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An advertising compliance monitoring system is provided that includes a tag (10) affixed to a sign (46) or marketing material or shopper ID card, the tag communicating with a reader (12) on a periodic basis. The tag includes a memory for storing tag data, a transmitter (36) and a receiver (34). The tag uses sleep modes to conserve power. The tag transmits tag data to a reader (12) in response to an interrogation request, or automatically on a periodic basis. The tag data includes an identification number used to identify the tag associated with a particular sign, price, marketing material or shopper, status data (e.g., delivered, displayed), and time and date information. This data is processed by a central server (16) to determine compliance with and/or to a particular advertising program.
Abstract:
An electronic label, which is wirelessly connected to a product information updating system, said label comprising at least one display (3; 11,13,15) adapted to display product information.According to the invention the display (3; 11,13,15) has a transparent or semitransparent backside and is adapted to be lit up from behind.
Abstract:
A bioptical laser scanning system employing a plurality of laser scanning stations about a two independently controlled rotating polygonal mirrors. The system has an ultra-compact construction, ideally suited for space-constrained retail scanning environments, and generates a 3-D omnidirectional laser scanning pattern between the bottom and side-scanning windows during system operation. The laser scanning pattern of the present invention comprises a complex of quasi-orthogonal laser scanning planes, including a plurality of substantially-vertical laser scanning planes for reading bar code symbols having bar code elements (i.e. ladder type bar code symbols) that are oriented substantially horizontal with respect to the bottom-scanning window, and a plurality of substantially-horizontal laser scanning planes for reading bar code symbols having bar code elements (i.e. picket-fence type bar code symbols) that are oriented substantially vertical with respect to the bottom-scanning window.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for an interface enabling a user to determine optimum prices of products for sale. The interface includes a scenario/results processor that enables the user to prescribe an optimization scenario, and that presents the optimum prices to the user. The optimum prices are determined by execution of the optimization scenario, where the optimum prices are determined based upon estimated product demand and calculated activity based costs. The scenario/results processor has an input/output processor and a scenario controller. The input/output processor acquires data corresponding to the optimization scenario from the user, and distributes optimization results to the user. The scenario controller is coupled to the input/output processor. The scenario controller controls acquisition of the data and the distribution of the optimization results in accordance with a price optimization procedure.
Abstract:
A system (102) for dynamically pricing media content is operatively coupled to one or more clients (108) over a network (106). The system (102) dynamically adjusts pricing of the media content and delivers the media content to the clients (108) that order the media content a dynamically adjusted price. The price can be dynamically adjusted based on profit optimization. Alternatively or additionally, the price can be adjusted based to time between purchases. Further, the system (102) is capable of rewarding institutions for allowing their members to access the system (102).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A system and method for processing product marketing rebate claims submitted by a consumer in satisfaction of a rebate offer, the consumer having purchased designated products in a qualified transaction recorded by a point-of-sale data processing and storage system that issues a receipt containing a corresponding transaction serial number (100). The method comprises providing a designated site of a computer information network (110) and accesible by the consumer, and receiving a rebate claim on the designated site. The rebate claim comprises (i) the transaction serial number corresponding to the qualified transaction, and (ii) identifying information corresponding to the consumer. The transaction serial number and the identifying information is stored as a stored data record (130). An electronic file transfer is received from the point-of-sale data processing and storage system comprising purchase data records, each record comprising the list of products purchased and the transaction serial number for a qualified transaction in which at least one designated product was purchased (140). Each stored data record is associated with a purchase data record having an identical serial number, and the records are processed to validate the rebate claim (150). Finally, the value of the rebate offer is transferred to the consumer (160). Consumer access by the designated site may be via the global computer information network or by telephone, and may also optionally integrate paper-based and smart/credit/debit-card-based rebate claims. A system for performing the above method is also claimed, as is a method for making a rebate claim prior to or simultaneously with a purchase.
Abstract:
A Web-based buyer-driven system of commerce efficiently and inexpensively connects buyers (100) and sellers (104). In general, the system includes a Web site globally accessible by potential buyers and sellers. Potential buyers post descriptions of products and services (102) they desire on the Web site. Interested sellers of those products and services can access the descriptions posted by the buyers and selectively post responses to buyers (106). The responses preferably include information identifying the seller and describing the product or service offered by the seller. The system determines if the potential buyer retrieves a response directed to him from a potential seller (108) and, if so, it charges that potential seller a small fee (110).
