An image output apparatus characterized by comprising: first communication control means for controlling communication using a first protocol; second communication control means for controlling communication relating to an image using a second protocol; image output means for executing image output processing based on an image supplied under the communication control by the second communication control means; and link control means for performing control relating to disconnection of the communication by each of the first communication control means and the second communication control means. When disconnection of the communication by the first communication control means is detected, the link control means holds disconnection processing of the communication by the second communication control means based on a state of the communication control relating to the image by the second communication control means.

In an apparatus, object information and information on a transmission destination representing the transmission destination of image data are registered in correspondence with each other. An object in the image data is identified. The image data is transmitted to a transmission destination represented by information on a transmission destination corresponding to identified object information. The transmission status of the image data by a transmission unit is displayed on a display unit together with the image data.

There is provided an image input device capable of connecting to a network, which can achieve, when a user wants to connect to a particular communication counterpart by operating the image input device, reliable connection with the counterpart that the user wants to connect by smoothly avoiding connection with other communication counterparts. Meanwhile, if the user wants to connect to the image input device by operating an information processor, connection with a communication counterpart which has issued a connection request earliest is achieved without operation of the image input device. A digital camera 100 has a wireless communication function of wirelessly connecting to a PC (personal computer) 101, which is an information processor. Pairing information for identifying a PC 101 to be a communication counterpart is set in advance, by connecting to the PC 101 via a USB cable. When start of connection with the PC 101 is instructed, the digital camera transits to a state capable of wireless connection with the PC 101 based on the set pairing information.

Disclosed is a multimedia system using a mobile communication terminal and an external connection device for the same. The multimedia system uses a video/audio output device, a peripheral device, and an external connection device. The multimedia system includes a mobile communication terminal having a video/audio output function and a peripheral device control function so that the mobile communication terminal outputs images and sounds by using the video/audio output device and controls the peripheral device; and an external connection device for connecting the mobile communication terminal to the video/audio output device and the peripheral device, relaying the images and sounds from the mobile communication terminal to the video/audio output device, and relaying data transmitted/received between the mobile communication terminal and the peripheral device. When multimedia data is reproduced by using a mobile communication terminal, it is easily connected to an external video/audio output device (e.g. a TV) or a peripheral device (e.g. a computer, a mouse, a joystick) to construct a multimedia system.
