Abstract:
The present invention determines and monitors the connection pattern of data ports which are connected by multiconductor cables without requiring special patch cables or patch panels. An adapter jacket having an external contact is placed over a standardized cable such as an RJ45 cable which connects the data ports. An adapter board having a plurality of socket contacts is placed adjacent a plurality of data ports. An output and input module are coupled to the socket contacts. A micro-processor which is coupled to the output and input module scans the socket contacts to determine the connection pattern of the data ports.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a distribution device (2) in a data signal processing installation (1), and a data signal processing installation (1). Said distribution device comprises a distribution block (3) which has a receiving device containing functional elements to which data signal lines (4, 5, 6) can be connected, said functional elements having a circuit to distribute signals transmitted by the data signal lines (4, 5, 6). The distribution device also comprises a data signal editing unit with active and/or passive electronic components, in which the data signals transmitted from the data signal lines (3, 4, 5) are edited in a pre-determined manner. The data signal editing unit is integrated into the components of the distribution block (3).
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for mounting electrical equipment on a wall. A mounting plate is mounted on the wall. The mounting plate includes a lip defining a linear channel extending across the front of the mounting plate. An equipment enclosure includes a complementary upward extending hanger for engaging the linear channel. A ground strip is attached to the wall plate below the linear channel. The equipment enclosure can be positioned at any point along the length of the linear channel by engaging its complementary hanger therewith and pivoting the enclosure downward until its rear surface engages the mounting plate and a grounding lug thereof engages the ground strip.
Abstract:
The apparatus of the present invention comprises an electronic patch panel controller apparatus for use in environments where multiple internal handset lines share connectivity to a lesser number of external telephone lines, the control apparatus patching excess internal handset lines to available web based external lines accessible at a website accessed via a browser in process memory, the website providing commands for latching and unlatching engagement between pairs of cooperating active and passive ports to multiple external telephone lines accessible at and via the website, by a remote processor, the controller being manually or automatically operable.
Abstract:
A revision system for a network having a plurality of data ports, pairs of the data ports being connectable by a patch cord to place the pairs of data ports into communication with each other, the revision system including a computer processor, a scanner in communication with the computer processor, the scanner capable of polling at least some of the data ports for determining connective status information therefrom, a plurality of local system ports disposed at distinct physical locations within the system, the local system ports in communication with the computer processor, and a portable information module for connecting to respective ones of the plurality of local system ports, whereby when the portable information module is connected to one of the local system ports, the portable information module may be placed into communication with and display information about respective ones of the data ports in the system.
Abstract:
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) cells are conveyed over a shelf bus to and from an NT (network termination) card inserted into the bus connected to an ATM network and to a plurality of LT (line termination) cards also inserted into the bus, wherein the NT card processes the ATM cells and provides downstream cells to the bus with a guard byte and upstream cells to the ATM network without a guard byte.
Abstract:
Line termination equipment may include a replaceable printed circuit board or card for use in a shelf of a telecommunications system with plural twisted pairs connected to corresponding plural subscribers via said card, each subscriber channel on each card including a hybrid circuit connected to one of the plural twisted pairs, a highpass filter, a modulator/encoder and a demodulator/decoder.
Abstract:
A shelf or housing is connected to a narrowband network and to a broadband network for serving a plurality of subscribers includes two sections, one for lowpass filters and another for line and network termination cards. The line termination and network termination equipment are interconnected by a bus internal to the shelf for providing subscriber access. The shelf or housing can be used as a hub for connecting to a remote shelf or housing that includes the line termination equipment for connection to subscribers. Although the internal bus of the shelf or housing is shown in a non-redundant embodiment, an increased level of equipment protection can be provided by placing one half of a redundant equipment pair in one shelf or housing and the other half in the other shelf or housing and sharing network termination equipment between such shelves or housings.

Abstract:
A universal demarcation point for managing the delivery of communications services to a subscriber that provides an interface between a utility distribution network and subscriber owned equipment. The universal demarcation point includes a utility accessible portion and a subscriber accessible portion. The utility accessible portion has an input port, an output port, a plurality of modular connectors, a power supply, and a plurality of service modules. The input port provides access to the universal demarcation point for delivery of communications service from the utility distribution network. The communications services are delivered through a hybrid cable. The hybrid cable has a plurality of fiber optic cables and a plurality of copper cables. The fiber optic cables are capable of transmitting light signals and the copper cables are capable of transmitting electric power. The output port provides access for delivering the communications services from the universal demarcation point into the subscriber's dwelling. The plurality of connectors are fixedly mounted to the universal demarcation point. The power supply is removably mounted to the universal demarcation point. The power supply converts the electric power into a voltage for powering the operation of the universal demarcation point. The service modules are capable of plugging into the modular connectors and convert the light signals that are transmitted on the fiber optic cables onto cables that are suitable for use in the subscriber's dwelling. The subscriber accessible portion is adjacent to the utility accessible portion and has ports that enable the subscriber to test the integrity of the communications services delivered from the utility distribution network.
