    Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to electrical and electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, and wearable computing devices in capturing and deriving physiological characteristic data. More specifically, an array of electrodes and methods are configured to determine physiological characteristics using a wearable device (or carried device) that may be subject to motion. In one embodiment, an array of electrodes is disposed substantially in a wearable housing. At least a portion of the array including electrodes configured to either drive a first signal to a target location or receive a second signal from the target location. The second signal includes data representing one or more physiological characteristics. A sensor selector is configured to identify a subset of the electrodes adjacent to the target location and to select the subset of the electrodes from which to receive a sensor signal that includes data representing one or more physiological characteristics.

    Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to electrical and electronic hardware, computer software, wired and wireless network communications, and wearable/mobile computing devices configured to facilitate health and wellness monitoring and maintenance. More specifically, disclosed are systems, components and methods to detect physiological characteristics, such as heart rate, of an organism in real-time based on components of light. In various embodiments, a method can include receiving color channel signals including imagery data generated by, for example, an image capture device. A linear combination of the color channel signals can form a combined color channel signal. The method also can include transforming continuously the combined color channel signal to establish local maxima associated with multiple scales. Further, portions of time associated with the local maxima can be identified and data signal representing a physiological characteristic can be generated. A local maximum can indicate the presence of enhanced blood volume adjacent a tissue surface.

    Abstract: Various embodiments relate to signal processing and, more particularly, to processing of received speech signals to preserve and enhance speech intelligibility. In one embodiment, a communications apparatus includes a receiving path over which received speech signals traverse in an audio stream, and an dynamic audio enhancement device disposed in the receiving path.
