PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for layer shifting in a MIMO communication system are provided to use a multi-antenna technique with an orthogonal frequency division multiple access technique while maintaining the characteristics of a single carrier frequency division multiple access signal having a low maximum/minimum power ratio. CONSTITUTION: A method for layer shifting in a MIMO communication system comprises the steps of: dividing at least one codeword comprising modulation symbols(810); mapping at least one divided codeword to plural layers; mixing the plural layers by DFT symbol unit(820); performing a DFT conversion for the mixed plural layers(830); and mapping the plural layer to at least one antenna port(840-850).

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving transmission antenna diversity using cyclic subcarrier shift are provided to use multi antennas while keeping a PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) low, thereby transmitting data in a form for providing transmission diversity. CONSTITUTION: A DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) spread unit(110) performs DFT on a modulated symbol. The spread unit generates frequency domain symbols. A resource mapper(120) maps each frequency domain symbol on a plurality of frequency domain streams. Cyclic shift units cyclically transits each frequency domain stream. Signal transmission units transmit the time domain streams.

An apparatus and a method for controlling a transmission of an uplink sounding signal in an OFDMA/FDD communication system are provided to improve a data transmission rate and a proportional fairness of a proportional fair scheduler by transmitting a sounding signal to terminals based on the proportional fairness. An apparatus for controlling a transmission of an uplink sounding signal in an OFDMA/FDD communication system includes a data sub-band number determination unit(410), and a sounding sub-band number determination unit(420). The data sub-band determination unit determines the number of data sub-bands to be used in a transmission of a data signal through an uplink frame based on a channel gain of each of terminals. The sounding sub-band determination unit determines the number of sounding sub-bands to be used in a sounding signal transmission through the uplink frame in proportion to the number of sub-bands to be used in terminals.

An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving a pilot signal of a wireless communication system are provided to support at least two channels in an SC-FDMA system simultaneously by maintaining frequency resolution of a frequency area. An apparatus for transmitting a pilot signal of a wireless communication system comprises a digital Fourier transformer(213), a pilot signal generator(220), a time division multiplexer(218), and a symbol and sub-carrier mapping unit(214). The digital Fourier transformer performs a digital Fourier transform for a data signal. The pilot signal generator generates a pilot signal shifted for a predetermined interval in a frequency area. The time division multiplexer performs time division multiplexing for the pilot signal and the transformed data signal and transmits the time division multiplexed signal through an antenna. The symbol and sub-carrier mapping unit determines a sub-carrier transmitting the pilot signal and the data signal and maps the data signal to the determined sub-carrier.

An apparatus and a method of pilot transmission to coexist OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) and SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access) are provided to use a pilot of a proper form according to a channel environment by allowing a pilot incorporated in an SC-FDMA symbol to have a flexible pattern. An apparatus of pilot transmission to coexist OFDMA and SC-FDMA includes a pilot inserting device(63), an up-sampling processing device(65), an interpolation processor(66), and a cyclic prefix(CP) inserting device(68). The pilot inserting device inserts a pilot into a symbol by receiving pilot information. The up-sampling processing device performs up-sampling parallel data inputted from a serial/parallel converter(64). The interpolation processor performs interpolation for symbols up-sampled by the up-sampling processing device. The cyclic prefix inserting device inserts a cyclic prefix symbol into output data of a parallel/serial converter(67).
