    Abstract: A tire building machine includes a single-stage type forming drum (13) for initially forming a carcass band (29) and subsequently forming a green tire (34), and a belt-tread drum (14) for forming a belt-tread band (31). These drums (13, 14) are carried by a horizontal coaxial shaft (12) on a base member (10) of the machine. An integrated transfer unit (16) is movable in a predetermined transfer direction on the base member (10). The transfer unit (16) includes a bead setter (17) for setting beads (23) onto an outer circumference of a carcass band (29) formed on the forming drum (13), and a transfer ring (18) for transferring a belt-tread band (31) formed on the belt-tread drum (14) and a green tire (34) formed on the forming drum (13). The bead setter (17) and the transfer ring (18) are connected to each other as an integrated unit, and driven by a single drive means in the transfer direction.

    Abstract: In a member preassembly machine which can form a tire efficiently, a guide conveyer (18) is provided at the downstream side of an inner liner pull-out conveyer (16). Inner liner position sensors (20) are provided at the upstream side of the guide conveyer. A pair of guide conveyers (28) are provided at the downstream side of a sidewall pull-out conveyer (26). Two pair of sidewall position sensors (30) are provided at the upstream side of the pair of guide conveyers. An overall transport conveyer (24) is provided at the downstream side of both the guide conveyer for an inner liner and the guide conveyers for a pair of sidewalls. A press-adhering roller (32) and an ultrasonic cutter (34) are mounted on the overall transport conveyer. A forming drum (40) is provided near the end portion at the downstream side of the overall transport conveyer. The inner liner (12) and the sidewalls (14), which have been transported onto the overall transport conveyer and press-adhered integrally, can be wound around the forming drum simultaneously.

    Abstract: A pneumatic tire for a motorcycle increased in durability by a tread part formed of a rubber strip laminated body and a method of manufacturing the tire. The pneumatic tire (1) comprises the tread part (5) formed of the rubber strip laminated body (8) formed by spirally winding rubber strips (11) continuously in the circumferential direction of the tire. The outermost layer (10a) of the rubber strip laminated body (8) forming a tread part tread (9) is so formed that virtual extension planes (p) formed by extending boundary surfaces between the rubber strips forming the outermost layer from the tread part tread (9) to the outside of the tire can be positioned on the tread end sides of normal lines (n) formed vertically to the tread part tread (9). The tire (1) thus obtained is manufactured by winding the rubber strips (11) in order starting at a tread end to a tire equator plane (CL) when the outermost layer of the rubber strips is formed to form the tread part tread.
