Abstract:
A terrain profile for executing terrain following flight is generated using a minimal volume of digital terrain elevation data (DTED) information. By limiting the amount of information considered in generating the terrain profile, the computational time and resource requirements for terrain profile generation are reduced, but without compromising the integrity of the terrain profile generated. The sample region is limited by limiting the width of sample regions according to expected use including most likely terrain following flight command data, potential unexpected flight path deviation, and long range terrain following flight data.
Abstract:
A reconfigurable video output architecture includes a memory for temporarily storing digital video data such that the memory is configurable between a single channel mode where the digital video data is a single video channel and a double channel mode where the digital video data includes first and second video channels. The architecture further includes a selector for selectively reading the memory and a look-up table for converting the digital video data into digital shade values. The look-up table is also configurable between a single channel mode and a double channel mode. A digital-to-analog converter is provided for converting the digital shade values into analog shade values, and an output circuit outputs at least one analog video signal.
Abstract:
A configurable video output channel architecture includes a plurality of parallel video pipelines arranged to drive a video display; a device for selecting an output of one of the video pipelines and generating a readback signal representative thereof; and a device for adjusting a display specification of at least one of the video pipelines using the readback signal. The display specification adjusted may include the maximum video level, the blanking level, and the sync level of the video waveform. The adjusting device may also adjust the characteristic impedance of each pipeline. The selecting device includes a multiplexer and an analog to digital converter, and the adjusting device includes a controller which monitors the readback signal and generates a control signal to adjust the display specification if the readback signal is outside of a desired range.
Abstract:
An efficient method brings together two wafers of dies that contain an infrared transparent window or top cap with either an infrared detector or emitter array to produce a low cost infrared package. A low thermal conductivity gas or a vacuum may be used between the wafers for enhanced thermal isolation. Joining of the wafers is preferably by solder, although ultrasound bonding can be used.
Abstract:
A performance measure of an ATR (automatic target recognition system) is made from ancillary target data and the ATR output. A parameter of the ATR is varied to determine the change in ATR performance due to the parameter variation. Separate performance in the form of a quadratic equation models provide performance as a function of parameter and metrics. The performance models is partially differentiated with respect to the parameter. The partial differentiation allows solution for the estimated metric.
Abstract:
The virtual graphics processor is a software process that enables different video display systems to execute the same graphical display application. The process also permits the display application to be updated or reconfigured in real time without changing the embedded display system software. The parts of the virtual graphics processor include an application graphics database for storing graphic primitives and associated static primitive data defining one or more graphic pages in a display application. An image control interface (video library) associates graphic functions of the particular video display system with graphic primitives in a requested page. An instruction sequencer within the virtual graphics processor responds to a display request by obtaining the requested graphic page from the graphics database and associated graphics functions from the video library. The addresses of the graphic functions and associated data for the graphic page are passed from the instruction sequencer to an instruction queue. A graphics logic unit reads the addresses from the queue and calls the function, providing each called function with the associated data. The display system responds to the called graphics functions by displaying the requested page with its associated data on a video screen.
Abstract:
A sampling method and apparatus for sampling a dither signal (22) includes the step of sensing a number of peak amplitudes P1, P2, P3... Pn each of the number of peak amplitudes having corresponding times t1, t2, t3... tn while simultaneously sensing a number of ring laser gyro output angles at each of the corresponding times t1, t2, t3... tn. A value of the gyro net output, DELTA phi , is calculated as DELTA phi =( phi n- phi n-1)-( alpha n- alpha n-1)K, where K is a correction factor. Alternatively, the stripped gyro angle output may be calculated as phi g= phi n- alpha nK. Where phi g is substantially equivalent to the sum of all of the changes in the stripped gyro angle, that is the sum of all DELTA phi 's. The correction may include corrections for gain, phase angle, nonlinearity, temperature bias and scale factors.
Abstract:
A method of predicting performance characteristics of an aircraft including modeling thrust-minus-drag of an aircraft with at least one mathematical model using aircraft specific data and input parameters which define the performance characteristics. Coefficients of the at least one mathematical model are learned over at least one flight. The performance characteristics are predicted as a function of the learned coefficients representative of a combined and non-independent thrust-minus-drag relationship.
