Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide solid particles with improved lubrication, a solid lubricant including the solid particles, and a metal member including, on the surface thereof, the solid particles or the solid lubricant. The solid particles of the present invention include base particles and carbon fluoride particles attached to surfaces of the base particles.
Abstract:
A method for ensuring a good ring seal is for use in assembling a new engine or rebuilding an engine. The method comprises in each aspect use of a start-up lubricating composition comprised of a powder blend of (a) molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide or a mixture thereof, (b) boron nitride, and (c) an inorganic fluoride, all suspended in a carrier fluid.
Abstract:
The production of solid lubricant agglomerates by combining solid lubricant powder, an inorganic binder, other fillers if optionally desired, and a liquid to form a mixture, and driving off the liquid to form dry agglomerates which are subsequently classified by size or milled and classified by size to yield agglomerates of a desired size range. These agglomerates are then treated to stabilize the binder, thereby strengthening the binder and rendering it nondispersible in the liquid. The undesired size ranges can be readily recycled because the agglomerates with untreated binder can be reprocessed, thereby promoting high recovery rates.
Abstract:
Forge lubrication processes are disclosed. A solid lubricant sheet is placed between a workpiece and a die in a forging apparatus. Force is applied to the workpiece with the die to plastically deform the workpiece. The solid lubricant sheet decreases the shear factor for the forging system and reduces the incidence of die-locking.
Abstract:
An anti-seize composition includes lubricating solids and at least one of a material selected from a grease and an oil. The lubricating solids include at least 15 weight percent of nano-sized lubricating solid particles. The nano-sized lubricating solid particles each have at least one dimension, on average, of less than 500 nm.
Abstract:
The invention provides a telescopic shaft for vehicle steering installed in a vehicle steering shaft. A male shaft and a female shaft are non-rotatably and slidably fitted to each other and an outer peripheral portion of the male shaft and an inner peripheral portion of the female shaft come in contact with each other to transmit a torque during rotation. A grease composition which has an apparent viscosity of 400 to 750 Pa·s (25° C.) at a shear rate of 10 sec−1 as defined in JIS K2220 is enclosed in a gap between the outer peripheral portion of the male shaft and the inner peripheral portion of the female shaft. This telescopic shaft for vehicle steering does not need a new process for the male and female shafts, which is a cause of increase of cost. In addition, improvement in durability, reduction of resistance and stick-slip resistance are achieved.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition is disclosed comprising a superabsorbent polymer combined with a material for decreasing friction between moving surfaces. The superabsorbent polymer absorbs from about 25 to greater than 100 times its weight in water and may comprise a polymer of acrylic acid, an acrylic ester, acrylonitrile or acrylamide, including co-polymers thereof or starch graft co-polymers thereof or mixtures thereof. In the composition, the material for decreasing friction comprises a petroleum lubricant containing an additive, water containing an additive, synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant, wherein the synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant optionally contain an additive. A method of lubricating a surface is also disclaosed comprising coating said surface with the lubricating composition comprising the superabsorbent polymer combined with a material for decreasing friction between moving surfaces, wherein the material for decreasing friction comprises a petroleum lubricant, water, synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant, and optionally an additive.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an anti-friction lacquer for producing a coating on a surface exposed to tribological stress, comprising at least one polymer which forms a polymer matrix of the coating, or at least one precursor of the polymer which forms the polymer matrix by setting, and the molecular structure of the polymer or the at least one precursor has a main chain of recurring monomer units or the precursor is this monomer unit which is part of the main chain, at least one solid lubricant, optionally at least one additive to increase solidity, as well as at least one solvent. At least the main chain of the molecular structure or the main chain part has a fully conjugated bond system.
Abstract:
Grease for a slide bearing, which can suppress unusual noise attributable to a slip caused between a shaft and a bearing when a machine is stopped. In slide bearing grease 24 supplied to between a slide bearing 16 formed of a porous sintered alloy-made bushing having pores 30 impregnated with lubricating oil 31 and a shaft 22 inserted in the slide bearing 16 and supported to be slidingly rotatable in the circumferential direction, the slide bearing grease 24 employs base oil having dynamic viscosity of 10-70 mm2/s at 40° C. and exuding under a load of the shaft 22 to form an oil film 35 between the slide bearing 16 and the shaft 22.
