Abstract:
A synthetic fiber rope having an armor cover layer (3) formed of flexible synthetic resin to cover the outer peripheries of a plurality of strands (2) of synthetic fiber constituting the outer peripheral side of the synthetic fiber rope. And the position of the cab in the elevator shaft is pre-set by one colored region of the armor cover layer (3) lengthwise of the synthetic fiber rope, on the basis of the relationship between the colored region and the sheave having the main rope entrained therearound, so as to provide the synthetic fiber rope with a position index function. This makes the index to be easily identified even after the long-term use of the elevator, excluding defective conditions caused by the index becoming unidentifiable due to wear with time or the like. Therefore, it is possible to properly cope with operations for rescuing passengers from the cab during accidental stoppage and to speed up rescue operations.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a chain comprising a plurality of first links (100) interconnected with a plurality of adjacent links, the first links comprising polymeric multifilament yarns (110) and having a thickness (Formula (I)), at least at the portion where they interconnect with the adjacent links wherein said adjacent links have a thickness (Formula (II)) at least at the portion where they interconnect with the first links and wherein the ratio (Formula (II)/Formula (I)) is at least 1.2. The invention further relates to the use of the chain for storing, securing, and handling cargo, e.g. in lifting, hauling and rigging.

Abstract:
An outer sheath layer 3 made of flexible synthetic resin is formed so as to cover the outer circumferences of a plurality of synthetic-resin-made strands 2 constituting an outer circumference portion of a synthetic fiber rope. Segments of predetermined lengths in the outer sheath layer 3 are formed so as to be adjacent to each other and differ in color from each other. 0n the basis of a relationship between the colored segments and a sheave around which the main cable is wound, the position of a car in a shaft is assigned to one of the colored segments in the outer sheath layer 3 beforehand. This realizes a function equal to that of indices marked on the synthetic fiber rope. As a result, even after an elevator system has been used for a long period of time, indices can be identified readily, thereby preventing difficulty in identifying indices, which would otherwise be caused by wear due to aging. Hence, there can be appropriately addressed an operation for rescuing passengers in an accidentally-stopped elevator car, thereby speeding the rescue operation.

The functional elements are wound in a helical configuration, and comprise one or more of the means in the group comprising: damage protection means, buoyancy means, optical detection means, sonar detection means, stiffness control means, anti-fouling means.
Abstract:
A stent is provided with braided filaments. First and second filaments (12, 14) are braided with each other and extend spirally around the stent wall in opposite directions. One or more third filaments (16) are braided with the first filaments (12) and extends spirally around the stent wall only in the direction of the second filaments (14). The third filament (16) is stiffer than the first and second filaments (12, 14), and there are fewer third filaments (16) than the first and second filaments (12, 14).
