Abstract:
A hose assembly and a method of manufacturing a hose assembly are provided. The method includes providing an inner corrugated lining composed of a polymeric material, providing an outer hose assembly having a length that exceeds the target length and configured to receive the inner corrugated lining therethrough, concurrently drawing the inner lining through a reducing die and the outer hose assembly, and expanding the inner lining within the outer hose assembly to form an interference fit at least at ends of the inner lining and outer carcass. The outer hose assembly length is sufficient to compress to the target length upon the expansion of the inner lining.
Abstract:
A connector assembly has first and second connector bodies, a coupling mechanism arranged to couple the connector bodies at the first ends of the bodies, a moveable hollow piston, and a moveable actuator. The hollow piston moves from a first position to a second position in response to movement of the actuator from a first position to a second position. In the second position the hollow piston is sealed to the interiors of first and second connector bodies.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a plastic pipe having improved resistance to thermooxidative degradation when this pipe is in long-term contact with liquids which comprise disinfectants having an oxidizing action. To achieve this, the pipe according to the invention has a fluorine coating on its inner surface.
Abstract:
A connector assembly and a fluid system or device comprises a connector assembly which includes first and second fittings, each fitting having an aperture, a first cap, and a stem disposed in the aperture of the first fitting. In various embodiments of the invention, the connector assembly further comprises a socket cooperatively arranged with one of the first and second fittings and at least one resilient sealing member. A method for making a connection includes removing a cap, mating first and second fittings, removing a stripout layer, and establishing a fluid flowpath through the first and second fittings.
Abstract:
A reinforced flexible hose extending between a first end and a second end and including a first non-toxic inner layer, a second layer surrounding and reinforcing the first layer, a third layer surrounding the second layer, a fourth layer surrounding and reinforcing the third layer, an outer layer made of plastic or rubber including an antimicrobial agent, and annular caps coating the ends of the flexible hose so that the intermediate layers are fully encapsulated. End connection terminals are attached to the hose ends over the caps.
Abstract:
A color-coded slide clamp for controlling the flow of fluid or other substance through an I.V. delivery tube. Each slide clamp generally comprises two longitudinal sides connected at one point by a resilient transverse end. At an opposing end, the longitudinal sides include crimping surfaces, which are clamped around the flexible delivery tube to regulate the flow of fluid passing there through. The precise width of the longitudinal sides determines the rate of flow of the fluid that may pass through the delivery tube. The wider the sides are, the lower rate of fluid that may pass through the tube. The width of the sides is fixed at the time of manufacture to correspond to a single, steady flow rate. The flow rate of the clamps can be easily identified by a color coding scheme. Alternately, clamps can be color-coded for easy identification of the type of fluids passing through the tubes.
Abstract:
A fluid line connector assembly including a length of flexible tubing having opposing tubing ends, and an end fitting rotatably supported on one of the tubing ends. A flexible coating extends along the exterior of the length of tubing. The coating is formed from a polymeric material that includes a biocide agent dispersed therein for killing and retarding the growth of microorganisms. The connector assembly can optionally include a braided sheath extending along the exterior of the length of tubing. In such case, the flexible coating extends along the exterior of the braided sheath.
Abstract:
A sterile to sterile connection device comprising a connector and one or more coupling devices. The connector has body portion which has two openings sealed from the environment so as to form a sterile environment within the connector. At least one of the openings being sealed from the environment by a sterile barrier plug. The connector also has a port capable movement within the body of the connector to at least an open and a closed position. The coupling device is formed of a body having two openings and a stem having a bore through at least a portion of the stem. The stem is contained within the body and capable of moving at least linearly through the body between a first and second stem position. One of the openings of the stem is sealed from the environment by a sterile barrier plug and the other is sealed to a presterilized component. The coupling device opening containing the sterile barrier plug is attached to either the inlet or outlet of the connector.
Abstract:
A connector system (10) for producing a sterile connection includes a fluid conduit (32), an engagement device (14, 22) designed to engage with a complementary engagement device (16, 24) of a complementary connector (12), a displacement device (26) with a substantially plane displacement surface (30) and a fluid conduit aperture (60) which extends through the displacement surface (30) and is connected to the fluid conduit (32), with the displacement device (26) being designed to displace the connector (12) and the complementary connector (12) relative to one another in a displacement direction (40) after the engagement device (14, 22) has engaged with the complementary engagement device (16, 24), and with the displacement direction (40) being substantially parallel to the displacement surface (30), and a sterile cover device (20, 74) designed to cover at least the fluid conduit aperture (60) in a sterile manner. The invention also relates to a method of use of the connector system (10) and of the complementary connector (12) for sterile connection of a fluid inlet of the connector (10) to a fluid outlet of the complementary connector.
Abstract:
A first fluid connector is provided for selective interconnection to and fluid transfer with a second fluid connector. The first connector comprises a fluid passageway, an internal member and an outer collar supportably disposed about the internal member for selective advancement and retraction relative thereto. At least a portion of the fluid passageway may extend through the internal member. The outer collar may be selectively retracted to facilitate cleaning of the internal member. In some embodiments, the outer collar and internal member may be disposed so that a distal portion of the internal member is substantially flush with or a distal portion of internal member projects beyond a distal end of the outer collar when the outer collar is in a retracted position relative thereto. To facilitate cleaning, a distal end or distal portion of the internal member may be substantially closed when the first and second connectors are disconnected. The second connector may be adapted to facilitate fluid interconnection with the first connector, and may also present a cleanable distal end when disconnected.
