Abstract:
A method is described for defining service metadata for multiple RF channel services with no impact to the currently defined service metadata for single tuner receiving devices. One example may include receiving first service layer metadata from a first communication channel and second service layer metadata from a second communication channel; and determining a plurality of services available from the first and second communication channels based on the first and second service layer metadata, wherein at least one of the plurality of services is a multiple channel service that comprises data in a pooled set of the first and second communication channels, wherein the multiple channel service is identified by matching a first service from the first service layer metadata and a second service from the second service layer metadata to identify the at least one of the plurality of service in the pooled set.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for aiding user content navigation are described. An exemplary system may include an electronic device configured to receive audiovisual content and/or user inputs. The electronic device may additionally include one or more outputs coupled with a display device. The electronic device may further include one or more processors as well as memory, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause them to perform one or more navigation functions to receive a channel change command to adjust from a first channel to a second channel. The one or more processors may further be caused to determine that the second channel is presenting advertising content instead of program content, and determine that a third channel is presenting program content. The one or more processors may further be caused to adjust the output to the third channel.
Abstract:
A method of performing alternate frequency switching in a radio includes tuning the radio to a primary frequency. A candidate alternate frequency is identified. It is determined whether the candidate alternate frequency is a third order inter-modulation artifact. Tuning is switched from the primary frequency to the candidate alternate frequency only if it is determined in the determining step that the candidate alternate frequency is not a third order inter-modulation artifact.

Abstract:
A system and method of controlling a portable radio may involve tuning a first receiver of the portable radio to a first broadcast from a first station, where the first broadcast includes specific program content. A switching event can be detected at the portable radio, where a second receiver of the portable radio may be tuned to a second broadcast from a second station in response to the switching event. The second broadcast can include the specific program content.
Abstract:
Various arrangements are directed to locating a television receiver. Multiple tuners of the television receiver may be simultaneously tuned to different television distribution satellites to receive timing signals. Using these timing signals, the location of the television receiver may be determined. Based on a comparison between a stored, expected location of the television receiver and the determined location, the functionality of the television receiver may be adjusted.

Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for selecting or removing one or more audio component types in an audio source associated with a video source at an electronic device are presented. For example, the present invention allows a user of an electronic device to selectively choose or remove, e.g., speech, music, and/or some other component type of an audio source for a selected video program at a receiver. In another embodiment, the selected audio source may be from another program.
Abstract:
Data transmitted over different channels may be updated by receiving one or more input data streams containing data for one or more digital data services, wherein the data is in the form of a plurality of packets, wherein each packet includes information identifying a channel and a number of related downstream packets; determining from the plurality of packets a time that an update packet containing data for one of the digital data services will be transmitted as part of the signal; and generating a schedule packet containing the time that the update packet will be transmitted as part of a signal.
Abstract:
In an example embodiment, there is disclosed a technique that enables a wireless device to achieve coexistence with an interfering source. The wireless device determines when interference is present and not present during a service period and reports the duration of interference free interval. At the end of an interference period, the wireless device can send a trigger signal indicating the start of an interference free interval to request data be sent to the wireless station until the expiration of the duration of the interference free interval. In particular embodiments, the signal sent by the wireless device can include an offset, for example a timing synchronization function (TSF) value, to indicate the end of the interference-free interval, perhaps computed so as allow for some clock drift.
