Abstract: A height adjustment structure for an image-scanning device. The scanning device has a guiding rod, an optical system and a document panel. The guiding rod and the document panel are fixed relative to each other. The optical system includes a box body and an axial rod bearer that can slide along into the guiding rod. The height adjustment structure includes a first positioning section and a second positioning section. The first positioning section is attached to one side of the box body and the second positioning section is attached to one side the axial rod bearer that faces the first positioning section. The first positioning section and the second positioning section has hooking mechanism, screwing mechanism or teeth-meshing mechanism for fixing the box body relative to the axial rod bearer and hence setting the distance from the box body to the document panel.

Abstract: An image reading device capable of correctly reading an image on a document is provided without the need to increase the size of an upper cover, etc. of the device. A CIS (Contact Image Sensor) is supported by holders and support shafts to be movable toward the upper cover (rib) and is biased toward the rib by compression springs. In this configuration, the rib for holding the document is not required to be installed as a movable component and there is no need to provide a space for allowing the rib to move or providing the upper cover with a mechanism for allowing the rib to move, which can avoid the need to increase the size of the upper cover.

Abstract: A scanner includes a housing, a transparent platform installed on the housing, a shaft installed inside the housing, and a scanning module installed inside the housing and on the shaft in a movable manner. The scanning module comprises a sensing module for scanning a document on the transparent platform and transforming it into digital signal and a sensor carriage. Abstract: The compact design of a CIS device is exploited, resulting in a more compact scanning mechanism and in lighter and smaller scanning devices. The CIS is incorporated into a drive belt attached to the length of the CIS. The CIS is forced to traverse the document by a drive mechanism that pulls the entire belt and CIS across the document while maintaining the tension necessary to keep the document in the narrow depth of focus. This mechanism provides a uniform force on the CIS, reducing the possibility of yawing motion, and keeps the document in focus through the tension on the drive belt. The combined CIS and transport mechanism power requirements can be supplied by standard computer interfaces, requiring no additional power supplies. This new mechanism also hides the internal workings of the scanner behind a drive belt that is the size of the platen window. The drive belt can either be printed to present the operator with instructions or markings to indicate document placement or with other information, or the drive belt can be left blank to present the operator with a cleaner and less cluttered scanning device.
