Abstract: The image recording method and image recording apparatus synchronize phase of a light deflector with rotation of a drum in response to the drum start point detection signal generated each time the drum rotates once, expose the two-dimensional image of one frame formed by a group of light sources disposed two-dimensionally onto the recording medium while causing the image at rest on the recording medium relatively thereto, thereafter move the optical system in the auxiliary scanning direction by an integral multiple of a pixel pitch forming one frame as well as deflect an angle of the light deflector in the main scanning direction by one frame so as to expose the next frame and on for one rotation of the drum. When the position is dislocated in the auxiliary scanning direction at the time the recording medium is to be exposed in a subsequent one rotation of the drum, the method and apparatus correct the dislocation of the position in the auxiliary scanning direction by changing an auxiliary scanning movement speed in a non-exposure time zone between the previous and subsequent rotations of the drum. Accordingly, the method and apparatus can prevent the occurrence of streaked unevenness in the surface exposure and spiral exposure.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus is provided with an supply device for supplying an original on a supply tray; a transport device for transporting the original to a platen; a discharge device for discharging the original; an optical reading device for scanning the original placed on the platen; a drive device for moving the optical reading device at the first moving speed or the second moving speed; and a detection device for determining a type of image data as either the first type of data or the second type of data. A scan control device obtains and stores image data while scanning a document at the first moving speed. A switching control device switches the drive device to the second moving speed when the detecting device determines the image data read at the first moving speed to be the second type of data.

Abstract: There is provided an image reading device capable of preventing disorder of an aspect ratio of an image even when a reading magnification ratio deviates from a set value due to a mechanical error and easily obtaining an accurate image. In this image reading device, a reference mark and a center mark of a line pattern of a reference pattern are projected on a CCD by a zoom lens, and an actual projection magnification ratio of the zoom lens is detected by use of addresses of pixels corresponding to a projection image. Then, a sub-scanning speed calculating section calculates a sub-scanning speed corresponding to the detected actual projection magnification ratio and drives a sub-scanning motor. Therefore, the sub-scanning speed corresponding to the actual projection magnification ratio is set regardless of the presence or absence of a magnification ratio error attributed to a mechanical error in a zooming stage on the lens side, thereby allowing an image accuracy to be guaranteed.

Abstract: A scanner scans a object using a one-dimensional image sensor via imaging lens. The imaging lens is supported by a lens barrel, which is moved in the direction of an optical axis of the lens for focusing. In order to ensure that the lens barrel does not incline with respect to the direction of the image sensor (i.e., the main-scanning direction), the lens barrel is biased to incline in the direction perpendicular to the image sensor.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus of image reproduction in which a light-sensitive surface is scanned by a light beam modulated by a reproducing head in accordance with a signal representing the densities of successive image elements to be reproduced, a component of the scanning motion is obtained by mounting the light-sensitive surface on the non-rotating surface of a cylinder and rotating a portion of the reproducing head within the cylinder so as to define a circular track on the output surface during one revolution of the rotatable portion of the reproducing head. A rotatable prism having a plurality of internal reflecting surfaces, such as a pentaprism, may reflect the light beam and may move axially within the cylinder to provide the other component of scanning motion. The pentaprism is advantageous during the presence of rotational vibration. Additionally, a plurality of light-sensitive surfaces may be placed sequentially on the surface of the cylinder to form respective color separations.

Abstract: An optical scanning unit includes a light source, a lens, a deflector, a lens holder, a support member, a force-generating member, and a force-transmitting member. The light source emits a light beam. The lens passes through the light beam. The deflector rotatably deflects the light beam coming from the lens. The lens holder, provided between the light source and the deflector, holds the lens. The support member has a first face faced to a vertically-downward direction, and extends in a direction from the light source to the deflector. The lens holder is movably supported by the first face of the support member. The force-generating member, provided to a second face of the support member, generates a force. The second face is opposite to the first face. The force-transmitting member transmits the force generated by the force-generating member to the lens holder to move the lens holder along the first face.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in image quality of read image data due to interruption of a process even without making a line start signal synchronous with an encoder signal.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus makes a line sensor execute a periodical reading operation by inputting a periodical line start signal, while conveys the line sensor at constant speed by feedback control which is based on a target position trajectory. Then, when constant speed conveyance of the line sensor is interrupted to invalidate the reading operation by shortage of spare of a buffer which temporarily stores the read image data, a line sensor position where the reading operation is invalidated based on the target position trajectory is specified as an interrupted position. In addition, conveyance control of the line sensor is started according to input of a line start signal, and prior to start of the conveyance control, a target position trajectory to be used is set as a target position trajectory where the line start signal is inputted when the line sensor arrives at an interrupted position.
