Abstract:
Abstract:
A program storage means stores a program for laying out operation targets such as an image, a character, and a figure on a document and for printing the document. The program uses a low-resolution image read by an image reading unit when the operation targets are laid out on the document; and specifies the reading resolution most appropriate for printing according to original-image information obtained when the low-resolution image is read and printing-size information when printing, and reads the image again by the image reading unit at the specified reading resolution and prints it.
Abstract:
An image reading system prescans and/or scans a film with magnetic recording and image data to be stored in a film cartridge after the film is developed. The image reading system employs a one-dimensional CCD and is capable of recording/reading retrievable ID numbers on a magnetic recording part. A thumbnail display (41) simultaneously displays all image and magnetic information of all frames of a film, and selected frames to be scanned can be easily identified and compared after obtaining the image data of such film through prescanning. Magnetic recording information and image information are rapidly read during prescanning and selected frames are then scanned with more refinement as compared to the coarse scanning of the film during prescanning.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for detecting a document size when the width of a document to be scanned is smaller than an effective scan width of a scanner module. One block of a plate is scanned before a document to be scanned is fed and it is stored as a reference colour data value. After pre-scanning a first block of the document, it is successively compared and judged whether a colour data value corresponding to a first slice is the same as the reference colour data value. In the case that the colour data value of an optional slice is the same as the reference colour data value, the size corresponding to the position of a slice just before the optional slice is detected as the size of the document.
Abstract:
A scan type laser marking device which scans the surface of an object conveyed in a predetermined area and applies a laser beam to the surface of the object to form a mark on the surface of the object comprises: an area storing section for storing the area; a start point coordinate storing section for storing coordinates of an irradiation start point in the area, the irradiation start point being located upstream relating to the direction of conveyance of the object; an end point coordinate storing section for storing coordinates of an irradiation end point in the area, the irradiation being located downstream relating to the direction of conveyance of the object; a mark reference point section for storing the coordinates of a reference point on the mark; and speed setting means for setting scanning speeds so that a marking operation is started when the mark reference point reaches the irradiation start point, and is ended when the mark reference point reaches the irradiation end point.

Abstract:
A small-sized flatbed scanning type image reading apparatus for reading a wide-range image at high resolution is provided. An optical reading system (LU) is movable also in a main scanning direction (X) for high-resolution wide-range image reading. The optical reading system (LU) scans the image with the width of a section (SS1) to be read of elongated rectangular configuration in a sub-scanning direction (Y), and then is shifted in the main scanning direction to scan the image with the width of the next section (SS2) to be read. The remaining section (SS3) to be read is similarly scanned. The images of these three sections are combined together in consideration for the influences of overlap parts (OL1, OL2) of the sections.
