PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical reading device capable of reliably locking an optical carriage movably supported by a rail member to a predetermined position of a device frame, without producing a trouble by a shock during conveyance.SOLUTION: A locking member which moves between a release position and a locking position and a biasing member for biasing the locking member to a predetermined direction are disposed on one side of the device frame and the optical carriage. On the other side thereof, an engagement receiver which fits to an engagement section formed on the locking member is disposed. At a locking position, the engagement section and the engagement receiver are configured to impede the movement of the optical carriage to a scanning direction, and at the same time, a biasing force by the biasing member is made to function on the carriage to a direction perpendicular to the scanning direction, so as to increase a friction force between the carriage and the traveling rail.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lock a movable part of an image forming apparatus with a simple arrangement without enlarging and weighing jig configuration, and to allow the image forming apparatus to be moved reliably. SOLUTION: The movable part locking jig 60 is loaded into a cassette loader 14a in a radiation image forming apparatus 10, and a lever 62 is moved to project casing locking members 76a and 76b from opposite side walls of a casing, thereby locking the movable part locking jig 60 in the radiation image forming apparatus 10. Movable part locking members 80a to 80c also project to be brought into abutment against suction cups 30a to 30c disposed near the cassette loader 14a, thereby locking the suction cups 30a to 30c. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus provided with a function of fixing a movable unit when carrying, whose dimension is downsized and the manufacturing cost is reduced. SOLUTION: In the apparatus provided with: a CCD unit 27 including an engagement projection 27G sensed by a position sensor 41 at an initial position and the engagement projection 27G to be fixed at a fixed position; and a unit fixing device 80 including: a main body section 80B of nearly a cylindrical shape and turned in a circumferential direction, a key section 80C engaged with the engagement projection 27G, and a sensing projection 80D sensed by the position sensor 41, the position sensor 41 is located so that it senses the engagement projection 27G when the CCD unit 27 is located at the initial position and senses the sensing projection 80D in a fixed state wherein the CCD unit 27 is placed at the fixed position and the key section 80C is engaged with the engagement projection 27G. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving low height design and space saving while keeping a stable installation state with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 comprises: a document reader 3 arranged on the upper part of an apparatus body 2 and supported openably/closably around a predetermined rotating shaft relative to the apparatus body 2; and a document cover 4 supported openably/closably relative to the document reader 3. A first lock mechanism to lock the opening/closing of the document reader 3 relative to the apparatus body 2 and a second lock mechanism to lock the opening/closing of the document cover 4 relative to the document reader 3 are arranged in a housing 5 of the document reader 3. A document cover lock member 26 of the second lock mechanism allows the opening/closing of the document cover 4 by engaging/disengaging a hook 24 and allows the operation of an operation lever 14 by moving a link rod 13.

To provide an image reading apparatus for enabling an optical carriage movably supported in a rail member to be locked reliably in a predetermined position of an apparatus frame without causing failure by shock in transport, one of the apparatus frame and optical carriage is provided with a lock member traveling between a release position and a lock position, and a biasing member for biasing the lock member in a predetermined direction, and the other one is provided with an engagement receiving portion being fitted with an engagement portion formed in the lock member. Then, the engagement portion and the engagement receiving portion are configured to inhibit movements in the scanning direction of the optical carriage in the lock position, and the biasing force of the biasing member is concurrently configured to act on the carriage in the direction orthogonal to the scanning direction so as to increase friction between the carriage and a traveling rail.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for appropriately holding the optical setting of a reader.SOLUTION: The reader includes: a housing including a placement plate on which an original is placed; a light source unit moving along the placement plate and irradiating the original with light; a mirror unit for specifying an optical path of reflection light from the original in the housing in an interlocked manner with the light source unit; and a locking member which is rotatably attached to one of the light source unit and the mirror unit. The housing includes: an operation member which is slide-operated for fixing the light source unit and the mirror unit; and a sliding face for slidably holding the operation member. The locking member rotates between an engaged position where the locking member is engaged with the operation member and the other of the light source unit and the mirror unit and a release position where engagement of the locking member with the operation member and the other unit is released with sliding of the operation member.

An image reading apparatus having a movable image reading unit, a locking mechanism locking the image reading device, and a position sensor. The image reading unit has an engaged portion. The lock mechanism has an engaging portion that engages the engaged portion. A first detected portion changes its position in accordance with the movement of the engaging portion. The position sensor detects the image reading unit when the image reading unit is in a first position, and detects the first detected portion when the engaging portion engages with the engaged portion.
