Abstract:
A host computer logs in an image providing device such as a scanner connected by a serial bus, and reverses flow control of data transfer by issuing a Reverse command. The image providing device opens a transfer channel by an OpenChannel command, transfers image data in form of blocks. When the transfer of the image data has been completed, the image providing device closes the transfer channel by a CloseChannel command, and reverses the flow control of the data transfer again by the Reverse command. This changes the data transfer direction of a device having a bidirectional data transfer function, i.e., a device having a data reception function and a data providing function.
Abstract:
When there are unused communication channels, it is checked whether an attribute of an image associated with transmission image data indicates color image data or monochrome image data. If the transmission image data is monochrome image data, the image data is transmitted through one of B channels of a line. If the transmission image data is color image data, and two B channels can be used, bulk transmission is performed by simultaneously using the two B channels. If it is determined that the two B channels cannot be simultaneously used, the image data is transmitted by using one of the B channels which is in a unused state.
Abstract:
A data transmission system which avoids charging of line utilization fees when it is attempted to send data to a destination incapable of receiving the data, and which can be readily operated even by an operator having little technical knowledge. By storing function information relating to the terminals of a plurality of parties, the system automatically determines prior to transmission whether data is capable of being transmitted to a destination. On the basis of the function information and the data attempting to be transmitted, a list of parties which are and are not capable of receiving a transmission is displayed on a CRT, thereby enabling the operator to visually identify in advance which parties can and cannot be sent data. Means are provided which make it possible to identify at least the form of data to transmitted, and to display the list of parties which are and are not capable of receiving a transmission.
Abstract:
A plurality of terminals are connected together through a network. An image read/input device is connected through the network to read an image, convert it into electronic image information and input it. A temporary storage device temporarily stores electronic image information inputted from the image read/input device. When a request for transferring image information is received from a terminal, a conversion device converts image information stored in the temporary storage device based upon the attribute information of the terminal which is the source of the request. A transfer device transfers the image information converted by the conversion device to the terminal which is the source of request through the network.
Abstract:
In an image data server 200, a preview data generation unit 218 generates preview data corresponding to image data, and a transmission controller 211 transmits the preview data to a computer system 100 in an image receiver apparatus. In accordance with another possible application, the preview data is not generated by the image data server 200, but is generated by a computer system 300 in an image transmitter apparatus, which transmits the image data to the image data server 200, and transmitted to the image data server 200. In the computer system 100 in the image receiver apparatus, a display controller 113 causes the contents of the preview data to be displayed on the screen of a monitor 150. The user determines whether or not the image data corresponding to the displayed preview image is required. In response to an instruction for transfer of the image data input from the user, a transmission controller 111 transmits a request for transfer of the image data to the image data server 200. The transmission controller 211 then transmits the image data, which is the object of the request for transfer, to the computer system 100 in the image receiver apparatus. A print controller 114 causes the image data to be subjected to predetermined image processing, and a printer 180 prints the processed image data on a printing sheet of paper. This arrangement of the present invention enables the image receiver apparatus to selectively receive only the required data.
