Abstract:
Provided is a composition comprising a mixture of a high molecular weight (Mw between 80,000 and 500,000 Da) carboxylate functionalized ethylene terpolymer, a high molecular weight (Mw between 80,000 and 500,000 Da) carboxylate functionalized ethylene dipolymer, and a low molecular weight (Mw between 2,000 and 30,000 Da) carboxylate functionalized ethylene copolymer, wherein the carboxylic acid groups are at least partially neutralized to form salts containing zinc cations. The composition provides a good balance of hardness, flexural modulus and scuff resistance. The composition is used in films, multilayer structures and other articles of manufacture, such as golf balls.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for making coated liners and/or tubular devices including such coated liners. A sleeve may be provided that includes an outer first surface and an inner second surface extending between first and second ends thereof, and a hydrophilic or other coating may be applied to the first. The coated sleeve may be cut between the first and second ends to create opposing edges extending between the first and second ends, and the cut sleeve may be reversed such that the coated first surface defines an inner surface and the opposing edges are disposed adjacent one another, thereby providing a coated liner. Optionally, a tubular structure, e.g., one or more reinforcing layers and/or or outer layers may be attached around the coated liner, thereby providing a tubular device including an inner surface with a desired coating.
Abstract:
An improved package (10) comprising a self-venting mechanism (11) that provides an indication of high temperature venting. The package (10) includes a fin seal (12) with an aperture positioned in the fin seal (12) to act as a vent 11 when the package (10) and its contents are heated in a microwave oven (30). The pressure in the package (10) is vented by allowing steam to escape through the aperture upon partial separation of the fin seal (12) up to the aperture.
Abstract:
A V-grooved composite insulation is provided with an adhesive coating and a protective jacketing material bonded to the adhesive. The protective jacketing material extends beyond the perimeter of the grooved insulation board and comprises at least one intact release layer at a location in which the protective jacketing is clear of contact with the bottom surface of the insulation member and a pressure sensitive adhesive between the portion of the protective jacketing material and the at least one release layer. The method also comprises preshaping the grooved insulation board around a pipe by bending the grooved insulation board, removing the release layer of the protective jacketing material, thereby exposing the pressure sensitive adhesive and securing the pressure sensitive adhesive to the protective jacketing to thereby surround the pipe in a vapor free manner. Grooved insulation boards with protective jacketing so constructed are also provided.

Abstract:
A seamless elastic trim having improved elasticity and elastic recovery is disclosed. The trim preferably comprises a cut edge, an elastic band, and a peripheral section of a fabric material folded over upon itself to form a substantially flat hollow structure for enclosing the elastic band. An adhesive layer is disposed on one side of the elastic band, and the elastic band is attached to a surface of the hollow structure by thermal or ultrasonic bonding, or by any suitable bonding material or technique. The elastic band may be provided continuously, or at predetermined intervals within the hollow structure. Likewise, the adhesive layer may cover the entire length of the elastic band, or the coverage may be confined to fixed intervals. A method and apparatus for fabricating the seamless elastic trim of the present invention along the periphery of a material are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for making a tubular device includes coating a first surface of a thin sheet, rolling the sheet such that side edges of the sheet are disposed adjacent one another with the coating disposed inwardly, creating a longitudinal seam along the side edges to create a sleeve, and attaching a tubular structure around the sleeve. In another embodiment, the method includes coating a first surface of a thin sheet, wrapping the sheet partially around a mandrel with the coating disposed inwardly, positioning a slotted tube around the sheet and mandrel, attaching the tube to the thin, and trimming any excess material of the sheet. In another embodiment, the method includes coating an outer surface of a thin sleeve, inverting the sleeve, and attaching a tubular structure around the inverted sleeve, thereby providing a tubular device including a lubricious, hydrophilic, and/or otherwise coated inner surface.
Abstract:
An analyte test element for determining the concentration of at least one analyte in a physiological sample fluid having a first and a second surface in a predetermined distance opposite from each other, said both surfaces are provided with two substantially equivalent patterns forming areas of high and low surface energy which are aligned mostly congruent, whereby the areas with high surface energy create a sample distribution system with at least two detection areas, characterized in that the detection areas of first and second surface are also provided with two corresponding patterns of working and reference electrodes of electrochemical detection means. The sample distribution system contained in the inner part of the analyte test element has no mechanical and/or structural features resembling walls, groves, or channels to guide the physiological fluid to the detection areas which leads to an easy, cost efficient and reliable production process. Due to the integrated calibration procedure the analyte test system of the present invention provides reliable results regardless of the blood type, haematocrit level, temperature etc…
