The transducer apparatus (20) includes readily detachable loop-like portions (38) enabling replacement of the loop-like portions (38).
Abstract:
The variation in mechanical values during muscular contractions are correlated with changes in the electrical values of nerve and muscle. The part of the body to be tested, including the articulation, is placed on a sagitally rotatable foot plate (2) the axes (7, 8) of which co-incide with the horizontal rotation axis of the articulation. The muscle can be excited via an electric stimulating current generator (39) and surface electrodes (42). Strain gauges (29, 30) for recording mechanical values and electrodes (49, 50, 51, 52) for recording electrical values are connected to an electric amplifier (40), the latter being connected to a recording device (41). In order to test the muscular contraction in the case of small joints and muscles (for example in the hand) there is a rotatable frame composed of U-shaped components (69, 72), said frame being applied to the part of the body (e.g. thumb) being tested, the axes (68) of which coincide with the horizontal axes of the joint.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the evaluation of the temporal phases, the geometrical data and the reaction forces of the sole of the feet under dynamical conditions. This apparatus essentially provides a walkway (1) formed of three layers (2-4). The upper layer (2) consists of a flexible printed board having conductive paths (5) parallel to one another and applied to the lower face thereof, the middle layer (3) being formed of a conductive rubber sheet able to vary its resistance in the direction of its thickness when pressure is exerted in the direction perpendicular to the faces of the layer, the lower layer (4) being a printed board having conductive paths (6) parallel to one another and applied to the upper face thereof and extending in a direction perpendicular to the conductive paths of the upper layer (3). The apparatus allows the whole walkway to be scanned in real time during the gait of the subject at a sampling frequency higher or equal to 50 Hz, and the distribution of the support pressures exerted by the sole of the feet to be determined in a full gait cycle (double step).
Abstract:
Latent fingerprints are developed by exposing them to vapors generated from a thin film of a storage stable cyanoacrylate monomer and a thixotropic additive in sufficient amount to render the composition substantially non-flowable. The monomer film (20) should have a surface area of at least 129 sq. cm. An envelope package (10) for the monomer composition is made from sheets (12), (12a) and (13) having inner polyethylene surfaces. The envelope may be peeled open to expose the inner surfaces coated with a film of the composition.
Abstract:
An instrument for measuring more precisely the range of motion of body members such as the spine including the Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar sections, and also shoulders, hips, knees and others which have the capability of movement. The utilization of detector and monitor provides an extremely accurate range of motion measurement. The microprocessor will also print out a permanent record of the measurement and other required information. The device (20) has a variable resistor (74) and a freely movable plum (76) that are movable relative to one another to provide signals transduced into degrees for indicating the range of motion of a body member.

Abstract:
A completely portable and intravinally contained myostimulatory device (10) using biofeedback techniques in the treatment of vaginally related disfunctional syndromes. The self-contained device (10) is programmable and self-regulated as to frequency, duration and intensity of treatment. It can be worn for long periods of time in complete privacy and enables training in the control, mastery and improvement of strength of the vaginal musculature including the physiological functions associated with the Grafenburg Spot. The device (10) may be equipped with cervical secreation viscosity and temperature-sensing transducers (18, 19) for the prediction of ovulation and the fertility period with a high degree of accuracy.
Abstract:
A warning device for monitoring the position of a part of a human body comprises an electric circuit including at least one electric battery (41), a signal device (43) and a current controlling means (44). The current controlling means (44) is designed to be attached to the part of the body to be monitored and to be actuated by the position of the monitored part of the body for controlling the operation of the signal device (43). The current controlling means (44) comprises a conical element (45) having an adjustable apex angle and containing a movable ball (53). The ball is arranged to abut an electric contact (54), when the monitored part of the body is tilted over a certain angle, and to close a current circuit for activation of the signal device (43). The signal from the signal device indicates that the monitored part of the body is in a harmful position. Alternatively, the current controlling means can be a reed relay provided with a slidable sleeve carrying a permanent magnet. The movement of the permanent magnet along the relay provides a contact between the reed elements in the relay, so that a current circuit for the signal device is closed. According to another alternative, the current controlling means is a tube provided with contacts in which a movable ball is positioned. The reed relay as well as the tube containing the ball can be adjusted in relation to a vertical line.
Abstract:
Apparatus to be worn on the body for measuring the degree of flexion of a joint comprising a harness (19) with means for attachment to a joint and a flexible member (35) held by the harness so as to be moved or flexed when the joint is flexed. A warning device (38) attached to the flexible member sounds an alarm when the flexible member is flexed beyond a predetermined amount.
Abstract:
A fluidically-operated respirator comprises an apneic event circuit (10) and a demand gas circuit (20). The apneic event circuit (10) comprises a variable capacitance device (132) and an exhaust means (130) which rapidly discharge fluid from the circuit (10) when an inspiration occurs. If an apneic event occurs, the circuit (10) activates one or more signals (136) as a predetermined volume of fluid is built up in the circuit (10). The demand gas circuit (20) of the respirator supplies respirating gas to a patient at the beginning of an inspiration and for a time period which is a fraction of the duration of the inspiration.
