A method comprises a step of administering an oral care product comprising an effective amount of a basic amino acid or salt thereof in the presence of the low level of arginolytic bacteria and/or the low level of plaque ammonia production.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel sealant composition useful for preventing demineralization of teeth and alleviating pain and/or sensitivity of teeth.SOLUTION: A sealant composition comprises a basic amino acid (BAA) in free or salt form. A method of treating sensitive teeth comprises the step of attaching the sealant composition to a target tooth. The BAA can be slowly released to the target tooth by the method. The BAA is preferably arginine in free or salt form. It is preferable that the sealant composition comprises fluoride such as sodium fluoride, is provided in powder form, and is incorporated in dental materials such as a dental amalgam, a fissure sealant resin, a composite bonding material, an orthodontic appliance, a dental prosthetic, a resin varnish, and an oral surgery implant.
