Abstract:
Systems and methods for computing and/or utilizing mutual information based link metrics for a link in a wireless mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, one or more mutual information values are computed for a link between a transmitter of a first network node and a receiver of a second network node in a wireless mesh network. Each of the one or more mutual information values is computed for a different hypothesized transmission mode for the link. One or more link metrics for the link are computed as a function of the mutual information values, where each link metric is computed based on a different one of the one or more mutual information values. In this manner, a link metric is computed for each of the one or more hypothesized transmission modes for the link. At least one of the link metrics are then provided to a routing update module.
Abstract:
A communication system is adapted to provide access to application information on an application server utilizing a specific one of multiple radio access types. Access is provided via an access network using an access bearer. The capability of the specifically requested access bearer is sent to the application server to tailor the application information content according to the capability of the specific access bearer. The information content is then transmitted to the requesting device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for link adaptation for a multi-hop route in a wireless mesh network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a wireless mesh network includes network nodes in a route through the wireless mesh network. The network nodes determine a bottleneck information flow rate for the route based on backward propagation of information indicative of a tentative bottleneck information flow rate for the route from an ending network node to a starting network node through one or more intermediate network nodes. A target information flow rate for the route that is less than or equal to the bottleneck information flow rate for the route is determined. A Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) and, in some embodiments, a transmission mode is determined for each network node in the route other than the ending network node based on forward propagation of information indicative of the target information flow rate for the route.
Abstract:
A transmission apparatus controls a transport format for retransmission of data packets transmitted uplink to a receiving apparatus via at least one data channel using an automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol. A transmitter transmits an uplink data packet via the data channel to the receiving apparatus, and a receiver receives first information along with second information from the receiving apparatus. The first information is used for determination whether to perform a retransmission of the uplink data packet at the transmission apparatus, and the second information indicates a transport format for the retransmission. The transmitter transmits the retransmission from the transmission apparatus to the receiving apparatus according to the transport format indicated in the second information element using a transmission timing based on the ARQ protocol.
Abstract:
A wireless terminal (30) capable of operating in a discontinuous mode and method for operation facilitate measurements pertaining to position of the wireless terminal (30). A measurement request message from a radio access network (28) indicates that measurements are to be performed by the wireless terminal on downlink signals transmitted by the base station or by the base station on downlink signals transmitted by the base station. As a result of or after receiving the message, operation of the wireless terminal (30) changes from a discontinuous mode to a modified mode to facilitate performance of the measurements. Relative to the discontinuous mode at least one of following are shortened or eliminated in the modified mode: (i) the non-reception periods, and (ii) the non-transmission periods.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for performing HARQ performed by a user equipment (UE) are provided. A bundling indicator is received which indicates the number of bundled downlink subframes, and a determination is made whether at least one bundled downlink subframe is missed by comparing the bundling indicator with the number of detected bundled downlink subframes. A representative ACK/NACK signal is generated when no bundled downlink subframe is missed, and the representative ACK/NACK signal is transmitted on an uplink channel. Recovery capability is maximized and packet loss is reduced so that fewer ACK/NACK signals are fed back than downlink packets.
Abstract:
A first orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) frame signal is generated that includes a grid of multiple frequency subcarriers and multiple time periods. An OFDM symbol is transmitted using multiple frequency subcarriers during a time period and includes known reference OFDM symbols assigned to corresponding time-frequency resource elements in the grid, Each resource element is defined by a one of the multiple frequency subcarriers and one of the multiple time periods. A second orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) frame signal is generated that includes a grid of multiple frequency subcarriers and multiple time periods and includes known reference OFDM symbols assigned to corresponding time-frequency resource elements in the grid. The time-frequency resource elements in the grid assigned to the known reference OFDM symbols in the first OFDM frame signal are different from the time-frequency resource elements in the grid assigned to the known reference OFDM symbols in the second OFDM frame signal. The first OFDM frame signal is converted to a first radio signal and the second OFDM frame signal to a second radio signal. The first radio signal is transmitted from a first antenna and the second radio signal from a second, different antenna.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting uplink signals, which include ACK/NACK signals, control signals other than the ACK/NACK signals, and data signals, is disclosed. The method comprises serially multiplexing the control signals and the data signals; sequentially mapping the multiplexed signals within a specific resource region in accordance with a time-first mapping method, the specific resource region including a plurality of symbols and a plurality of virtual subcarriers; and arranging the ACK/NACK signals at both symbols near symbols to which a reference signal of the plurality of symbols is transmitted. Thus, the uplink signals can be transmitted to improve receiving reliability of signals having high priority.
Abstract:
A method and transmission apparatus transmit broadcast system information in a mobile communication system. Further, a method and mobile terminal receive the broadcast system information. An improved method for broadcasting broadcast system information maps different partitions of broadcast system information to a shared transport channel or a broadcast transport channel for transmission. The mapping may take into account parameters inherent to the mobile terminals to which the broadcast system information is to be transmitted and/or parameters inherent to the different partitions of broadcast system information.
Abstract:
In transmission of paging information from a mobile network to a terminal device (200), the terminal device applies a discontinuous reception cycle to enter a sleep mode. Further, the terminal device determines an advance wakeup time (AW) for leaving the sleep mode. The advance wakeup time (AW) is advanced by an advancement time interval (ΔA) with respect to a start of an active time of the discontinuous reception cycle. At the determined advance wakeup time (AW), the terminal device leaves the sleep mode and starts monitoring the downlink control channel with respect to paging configuration information transmitted by the mobile network. The paging configuration information defines a paging occasion for transmission of the paging information. On the basis of the paging configuration information, the terminal device monitors the paging occasion to receive the paging information from the mobile network.
