Abstract: PURPOSE: An inter prediction method and a device thereof are provided to reduce calculation complexity by selectively performing uni-prediction or bi-prediction and generating a prediction block of a current block. CONSTITUTION: An encoder and a decoder derive motion information about a current block(S310). The derived motion information includes L0 motion information and L1 motion information. The encoder and the decoder perform motion compensation to the current block based on the derived information. The encoder and the decoder generate a prediction block of the current block(S320). Uni-prediction based on the L0 motion information and bi-prediction based on the L1 motion information are selectively performed. Abstract: PURPOSE: An image decoding method using a skip mode and an apparatus using the same are provided to perform encoding and decoding of residual block information according to the similarity of a screen.
