Abstract: A packet transmitting apparatus and a method of IP(Internet Protocol) offload is provided to rapidly transmit a header by the control of a media access control header generator without additionally storing the header and to save hardware resources. A packet transmitting apparatus of IP offload includes an MCU(Main Control Unit) and cash memory(11), a MAC(Media Access Control) header generator(12), an IP header generator(13), an ARP(Address Resolution Protocol) request header generator(14), an ARP response header generator(15), and a TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) header and data generator(16). When the MAC header generator(12) receives an IP header generating response signal for TCP/IP packet transmission from the IP header generator(13), the MAC header generator(12) transmits a MAC header, and requests the IP header generator(13) to start transmission of an IP header. When the MAC header generator(12) receives an ARP request header generating response for ARP request packet transmission from the ARP request header generator(14), the MAC header generator(12) transmits the MAC header, and requests the ARP request header generator(14) to transmit an ARP request header. When the MAC header generator(13) receives an ARP reception request from the ARP response header generator(15), the MAC header generator(13) requests the ARP response header generator(15) to transmit an ARP response header. When the MAC header generator(12) receives an ICMP(Internet Control Message Protocol) generating request from the MCU, the MAC header generator(12) requests the TCP header and data generator(16) to transmit an ICMP.
