    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for obtaining a soft decision value by a receiving end of a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communications system comprising steps of detecting signals transmitted by transmission antennas from MIMO reception signals received by multiple antennas by using a minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection matrix; calculating symbols by distributing a channel gain to the detected signals; demapping soft decision bits by a soft decision demapper by using the calculated symbols; and generating final soft decision bits by applying a correction value generated by using a value of a real part of the channel gain to the demapped soft decision bits. By simply calculating the correction value applied to the soft decision bits, complexity of the receiving end can be reduced to simplify formation of a receiving unit, perform MIMO detection, and obtain performance similar to that of maximum likelihood detection (MLD).
