Abstract: PURPOSE: An access channel allotment method in satellite communication system is provided to measure the load of a set access channel and automatically reset an available traffic channel as the access channel in accordance with the load. CONSTITUTION: An access channel allotment method in satellite communication system comprises: a re-transmission times storing step storing re-transmission times in every set access channel; a re-transmission times identifying step identifying whether the re-transmission times of respective access channel is over a predetermined value in the re-transmission times storing step; an idle code searching step searching idle data of code data to be allotted as channel frequency allotted to the access channel if the re-transmission times is over the predetermined value; and an access channel re-allotment step re-allotting the code data searched in the idle code searching step to the access channel.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An automatic channel selection apparatus in the multimedia satellite communication system is provided to automatically select a channel frequency for a return link which transmits data from a set top box to a central station. CONSTITUTION: An automatic channel selection apparatus(50) is comprised of a frequency down converter(51), a signal distributor(52), a frequency synthesizer(53), a channel selection processor(54) and a data storage unit(55). The frequency down converter(51) converts an intermediate frequency signal of 70 megahertz into a low intermediate frequency signal. The signal distributor(52) outputs inputted signals to a plurality of CDMA receiving unit. The frequency synthesizer(53) supplies a specific frequency signal to the frequency down converter(51) according to a required control signal. The channel selection processor(54) controls the whole operation of the automatic channel selection apparatus(50), based on a control signal supplied from a received data processing unit(26). The data storage unit(55) stores channel frequency information provided from the received data processing unit(26).
