Abstract:
An automatic peripheral device installation/removal device, an automatic peripheral device discovery system using the device, and a method therefor are provided to decide whether peripheral devices are required for a main device on the basis of transmitted information on the peripheral devices, so as to automatically install and manage the required peripheral devices in the main device through a network. Plural peripheral devices(20) periodically transmit peripheral device information(automatic discovery information) for automatic discovery, respectively, within a predetermined network area. A peripheral device installation information providing device(40) provides data and information essential for installing the respective peripheral devices(20). A peripheral device installation/management device(main device)(10) decides whether the peripheral devices(20) are installed on the basis of peripheral device information periodically transmitted from one of the peripheral devices(20), and receives data and information required for installing the corresponding one of the peripheral devices(20) from the providing device(40), then automatically installs/manages the corresponding one of the peripheral devices(20).

Abstract:
A PSI converter includes: a protocol data extractor, a protocol data converter, a protocol data inserter, and a system controller. The protocol data extractor is configured for demultiplexing a terrestrial broadcasting TS or a satellite broadcasting TS, and extracting audio/video data and PSIP/PSI data or audio/video data and SI/PSI data from the terrestrial broadcasting TS or the satellite broadcasting TS, respectively. The protocol data converter is configured for converting the PSIP/PSI data or the SI/PSI data into PSIP/PSI data of a corresponding digital cable television broadcasting standard. The protocol data inserter is configured for inserting the digital cable television broadcasting standard PSIP/PSI data into the audio/video data extracted by the protocol data extractor though TS multiplexing, and generating a digital cable broadcasting TS. The system controller is configured for checking the protocol data extractor, the protocol data converter, and the protocol data inserter, and controlling their operation.

PURPOSE: A method for constructing and transmitting introducing information for IPPV(Impulse Pay-Per View) service in digital cable TV broadcasting is provided to obtain purchase introducing information in the most preferable way by transmitting IPPV service descriptor included in the AEIT(Aggregate Event Information Table). CONSTITUTION: In a method for constructing and transmitting introducing information for IPPV service in digital cable TV broadcasting, the IPPV service descriptor includes descriptor tag data for distinguishing various descriptors, and descriptor length data representing the whole length of any other descriptors than the descriptor tag data and its data length. Purchase price data is formed of 8 bits and displays purchase price information on a corresponding program. Purchase validation data is formed of 8 bits and represents the level for allowing a user to purchase the corresponding program by a limitation receiving part, which limits the watching of a charged broadcasting service in the user's receiver. Program start time data is formed of 32 bits and represents the start time of the corresponding program. Initial free preview duration data is formed of 16 bits and represents free preview duration from the starting time of the corresponding program. Anytime free preview duration data is formed of 16 bits and represents the free preview duration during the corresponding program. Text data represents the purchase option and explanation on the purchase option of the corresponding program. The service descriptor is inserted into the AEIT to be transmitted to subscribers according to OpenCable standards.
