The dyes have yellow to blue tints and are useful for dyeing textiles e.g. of polyester, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile etc.

D may be optionally substituted phenyl, phenylazophenyl, benzthiazolyl, benzisothiazolyl, thiazolyl thiadiazolyl and thienyl. The dyes are produced by diazotization and coupling, and give yellow to blue shades with textile materials such as acrylonitrile polymers, synthetic polyamides, cellulose acetates, and particularly synthetic linear polyesters such as polyethylene glycol terephthalate.
