Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce remarkably a locking time from the transient state to the steady-state by detecting two kinds of levels in a pilot signal reproduced from an erasure head and using the result of detection to apply tracking control and switching the signal processing state of the tracking control. CONSTITUTION:A local pilot signal is superimposed on an output of a head 24 to extract f1, f3 components as 3fH component and f2, f4 components as 2fH component. When the local pilot signal is applied conversely in this case, the quantity of generation of both the 2fH component and the 3fH component is decreased. A switch 49 outputs alternately the f2, f4 components at the steady state and applies the result to a multiplier 34. When both the output of comparators 41, 42 are at L level, an output A is obtained from a logic circuit 44 and the transient state is discriminated, a one-shot multivibrator 52 is triggered attended with the output and a clock pulse is fed to a 1/2 frequency divider via an OR gate. Then the local pilot signal is switched between the f2 and f4 components and the state is locked momentarily to the state close to the steady state.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease the adverse effect on a recording signal and to reduce the power consumption by switching the supply quantity of an erasure current to a rotary erasure head in switching the running speed of a tape recording medium in the lengthwise direction. CONSTITUTION:An erasure signal is applied to a rotary erasure head 2 via an analog switch 13 and a signal is erased once during the two field periods by two tracks each by the rotary erasure head FE in the SP mode. On the other hand, a low level signal is outputted from a system controller 3 in the LP mode and a capstan control circuit 4 drives a capstan 5 at a speed a half of the speed at the SP mode. Further, an AND gate 16 outputs AND between an output of an MM 10 and an output of a flip-flop 15 frequency-dividing an output of a rectangular wave signal generating circuit 8 into 1/2 to control the analog switch 13 via an OR gate 12. The erasure current flows once in four field period but the erasure head FE erases all tracks.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify discrimination of the recording mode by disposing a data of specific m-bits which is not used other than a specific recording mode with respect to m-bits of a specified n-bit data in an n-bit data group. CONSTITUTION:The data which does not exist in some other mode are disposed in PP1 between the zeroth - sixth bits and distinguishing information is distributed in the seventh bit. The ID2 in the track in which the PP1 is recorded varies as being Mn, Mt, Hm, Ht, etc. at each existence of the PP1, and hence all the information can be read even when the tape is running at a high speed. PPX is one to specify some other submode by using an ID3 of mode 7, in which a specific data differing from that of the PP1 is disposed. X1 of an ID2 and X2 of an ID4 are the data disposed in corresponding to the submode specified by the PPX. PPX can be made able to specify a submode to dispose a letter- character code in the ID2 and ID4. Furthermore, the PP1 and PPX are n-bit data that includes the specific m-bit data.

CONSTITUTION:Video signals picked up by heads 3 and 4 are passed through a gate circuit 27 during reproduction to generate one continuous signal. The continuous signal obtained from the gate circuit 27 is supplied to an LPF35 through the V-side terminal of a switch 34. The LPF35 separates a pilot signal component continuously, separated components are supplied to an ATF circuit 37. At this time, a tracking error signal obtained from the circuit 37 needs to be neither sampled nor held and supplied to a capstan motor control circuit 20 as it is. Further, a PCM audio signal is reproduced and an analog audio reproducing signal appears at a terminal 36.

A counter 84 makes a program search for a piece of music which is several pieces of music beyond and counts the Q output of a counter 79 every time a recording start part is detected. Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an information signal reproducing equipment with much convenience by adopting a constitution that the edge of a tape recording medium is detected and whether the edge is the end or the start of the tape is detected as to each region. CONSTITUTION:When the edge is detected, a designated region is changed over and whether the edge is the start or the end is discriminated as to a region designated newly, and when it is the start, reproduction is applied and when the edge is the end, the tape undergoes fast feeding automatically toward the opposite edge to be the start. In case of the fast feeding for example, the region designated cannot be reproduced when it comes to the edge. When the edge is detected, a region designating circuit 24 switches the designated region. The changeover of the designated region is executed between regions where the tape running direction at recording differs. Accordingly a capstan to be used is selected as well and a capstan driving the tape in opposite direction to a capstan used for the reproduction of the designated region so far is activated.

A pattern signal generating circuit 56 inputs a signal related to the signal FG and HSW and executes an up-down count by a counter, and generates a signal for driving converting elements 3A, 3B. In this way, good tracking can be executed at an optional tape transfer speed.
